Nope - was a BANG! one time deal. No warning.

As far as refuse man, he is 50-something and single, on SSI, because of some BS reason.

Like I said origianlly, this inspector comes around when the court SENDS him out, because DWI's and speeding tickets are down. (The price of the Ad Council, I suppose)

I apprecate your sympathy, but it's done. I am in submission and accordance to the will of Big Brother now.

Next, he'll want my watches........'cause he heard I enjoy THEM, too.......

Thanks, 173.

I wish I had the money to live in the woods, or a flat in the woods, or something. This just has really mesed with my head. There is no recourse. I can do nothing legally but submit. I really know what kinda country I live in now.

It ain't "theeeeee laaaaand of the freeeeeeee.....". This has made me really deeply mad, and I can't do a damned thing about it. That will fester - I dunno quite how to get rid of it before it poisons me. This is not the country I grew up in. It's so much more controlling. When I was a kid, nobody bothered us. Now, BB is everywhere. All about the money, and how they can take more from me to give to someone else. I am all for helping those in need, but WOW. THey are digging to the poorer among us, to help people who are worth more than me. It's sick and twisted, and reality just ain't reality anymore......I'm confused.

This ain't just watching CNN or FOX. This is REAL. It ain't nice.

First of all did this go to court and what did you plea. Are you breaking a law and I am sure you know this or not. What in the world is going on in your court system that they need to send out the code officer for money. Now what has DWI's and speeding tickets got to do with your lawn mowers in your lawn. Something just don't sound right and does the district attorney go along with this. It looks like the district attorney needs to be voted out. It's a good thing they are not doing this to me because it would be lawyer and court time if I know I am in the right. It would be a out of county lawer also. I would also want it to go higher then a town court. You have no money I am sure you can get some help somewhere seeing your pig neighbor gets help.. Lets hope we still have some rights against dishonest government.

Believe me, there will be an entire book full of regulations about what size he can build, where he can build, and if he wants to build something that does not comply with the local codes (the book above) he will have to pay for and ask permission for a variance which is time consuming and expensive and the odds of everyone who lives nearby approving his variance are not very good. My cop neighbor next door wanted a good size pre built storage shed delivered to his property, he told me that in order for it to be legal (minimum distance from property line) he had to first apply for a variance then go thru the process of having his other neighbors within 300 feet approve it, or, he could simply ask me, the mean, grumpy old fart, if he could just have it eight feet too close to the property line between us. Took me ten seconds to say "you have my permission" and offer my hand to seal the deal. Why can't more neighbors be like me? :confused2:

That's all well and good until some city/county employee driving by notices the shed looks to be a little too close to the line, or until one of you sells and a survey is made and the new person is a stickler for the rules. My fence is 12 feet into our neighbor's property. He doesn't care as he actually has two lots. The one between us is wooded and couldn't be built on and was combined into his property. That's the one my fence is one. While he doesn't care, the next owners might and I'll have to move it. At least in my case its a fence and not something that might be concidered a permanent structure, so the county doesn't care. I do agree though that so much stuff that used to be handled with a nod and a handshake now seemingly takes an act of congress to be permitted.

And Twall. That bites man. I hate it for you. The only time I've ever had a run-in with code enforcement I knew I was violating the code and likely would have complained myself if it had been a neighbor. Though unlike the person that turned me in, I wouldn't have been a coward and would have said something to them first rather than going straight to the county.

Good point there, and if the shed he has was built on a permanent foundation I would have made him stick to the rules. But it is built in a way it can be easily moved so I gave him permission.

I'm still curious to find out if it was Town or County idiots that did this to TWall ?

On the buildings and distance from property lines - The reason given to me about that (where I used to live) was so that in an emergency situation fire or power equipment would have access to the rear of all properties. If there was at least 12' of clear passage on one side so they could access front and back of all buildings, the requirement was met.

Makes sense to me, thanks for sharing that. However, how do trees figure into the equation? How would fences figure in? They built three new homes south of me at the same time, trees and a LEGAL outbuilding completely block access to the rear of the center one, and the third one two houses down from my cop neighbor has no room on one side and the trees and fence block access on the other side.

If we go by your 12 foot regulation, the illegal shed my neighbor has is actually the only space that permits access, probably because there is another 75 feet of my yard on that side.

Not being critical of your post, but it did seem confusing...I have a friend who is on my Township Board, will ask her if she knows anything about the subject.

The 12' access was just in the County where I lived at the time and included trees.

I'm sure that different Counties and Towns/Cities have different regulations.
