You must live in a manufactured home community and your park owner must be OK with you collecting mowers but not the town. It sounds like some do gooder is just jealous and turned you in to the town. They just can't mind there own business. I can see what you mean we are losing more rights all the time. We just have too many do gooders telling us what to do and the politicians just listen to them. They just want to treat us like kids so we don't hurt ourselves. Just look what they are doing to the lawn mowers, they are covering them with safety switches and if they keep going maybe we will need to have a operators licence, wear a helmet and safety belt, and a road test to mow our lawn.,
It's much more about the revenue stream than it is about safety.

RobertBrown is exactly right here. Like I said, my SSI neighbor has multiple health code violations, and this fool of an inspector has recived numerous complaints on him, all to be ignored.

However, I have a job - and am more likely to actually have wages to attach should the need arise to fine me. But, because I live in a trailer park (it's okay......) - they in the town know we don't have the money to go lawyering up and fighting City Hall.

So, it keeps happening, and happening, and happening - ad nauseum.

Naw, we are too busy with the political infighting (which is exactly what they want) to band together and do anything meaningful.

I'm very sorry to hear this, twall. It's doubly bad that you couldn't find a way to get enough time to sell them in an orderly fashion.

I know. Thanks. You know what sucks worse? The day I got cited was the same day I was told at work we were going down to a 32 hour, 4 day week. Those mowers were going to be my supplimentary income while we are slow (happens every year).

C'est la vie!

Could you rent a building in a location that is zoned commercial. I also live in NY and it just seems the zoning laws are getting worst all the time. I own a second home in Franklin county and they are starting to zone. I added a room on the building in Franklin county and the building inspector had his noise in everything I did. It is just like the town hires people with too much time on there hands. I do a small repair business where I live but I can keep every thing under cover. Can't get a break on parts because no tax number because of it. What kind of business are you doing from your home? If it is selling it would be a very hard thing to hide. It is just imposable for the small person to run a small business without the government taking their cut. You say your neighbor is very untidy and they don't do anything about it. I think the difference is that it is his own private mess which they can't do anything about and you wanting to run a business. Not knowing the situation, hearing only one side, where or how you live it has to be very hard to pick sides. So far we are all on your side till we hear it from the other guy which I know better.

It's not a business per se. It was my collection I piddled with when the weather and cash cooperated. The fact I could fall back on a sale or two is secondary; if I never sold a one, fine. It wasn't really for that purpose. But, now I'm on workshare, having a piece I can sell here or there woulda been nice.

I don't have a building, but a lot of my stuff was under a tarp/covers. But not the riders (except the Snapper and the Simplicity. I am keeping that one, too - it is hardly noticable under a tarp - but he counted my covered Snapper....)

The smelly guy next door: if I didn't have to smell his filth, I could care less iff he lived and bathed in horse manure. But, when I have to smell it and almost puke, then it does become my problem. When I have to deal with his roaches, it becomes my problem. When I know there's black mold in that place, and the spores are everywhere, it becomes my problem.

Sorry to snap on you. Sure, there is another side: The pompous inspector who is making a mountain out of a molehill, whilst ignoring a health hazard. My mowers were niether harboring rodents, bees, snakes, or any other manner of critter. They didn't have fuel in them, so they were not a fire hazard. They were neatly llined up in a small section of my yard, so the 'eyesore' bit is a tad subjective. They were under piine trees, where grass never grows, so even WEEDS aren't a problem. It was just the number. 6 is too many, but maybe 4 would've slid by. I call BS! Not just lined up in a row; placed in no more than a 10'X10' square all put together like a puzzle.

Sorry again.

T----s like the guy that cited you are a boil on the ars of every local government unit, they go out and look for violations so they can say they are doing something.

HORSE SQUEEZE.

Our local code official must have ticked somebody off REALLY bad a year or two ago, because from what I heard, some cretin or cretins smashed in the side windows of his personal truck (late model SUV) early one morning and then poured a mixture of urine and dog-doo slurry (2 -5 gallon pails worth) on his front seats....what a great payback, IMO.

NO, IT WAS NOT ME !!!! I don't have any dogs....

I can't judge seeing I keep my toys in buildings, live in the country, and don't live next to a pig I can't get away from. Do you live in a park and rent a space for your trailer. Does this pig have children? Maybe you could complain to the park owner or social services about this very dirty person? As far as the town getting on you about your mowers was it a one time thing and bang we got you or was it something that you knew about for years with lots of warnings. Maybe you stepped on someones toes and they are getting back at you. Or the zoneing offerer had a bad day and didn't like your looks and said **** to the man with the mowes in his yard?? Hard only knowing only one side of the story. If it helps I am on your side and I don't see where you snapped at me. I am a big boy and can take a little snapping at seeing am married.
