Greetings from Northern Virginia. I was drawn here by a thread in the Craftsman area, as I have come across an old powered reel mower. I like the older machines. Motorcycles (69 & 73 Honda's), old outboard motors(multiple), and, of course, old mowers. My "weekly cutter"(equivalent of daily driver?)is an Old Honda HRS21, circa about 1983,which I've converted to an HRM21, and my backup is about a 10 year old HRT216. But I do love the old Briggs & Stratton motors. I have 3 or 4 of those around just for kicks, not including my latest find.
The HRS21 was actually a trash pile find. Someone had put it to the curb, and I snagged it. About a half hour of work, and it started right up, so I replaced the wheels and tires, got a new blade and a mulching plug. I did replace the carb within a couple weeks, as the petcock(not replaceable on it's own) was leaking. Great mower.
The screen name. I have been a statistic(unemployed) for almost 7 years, so long that I'm not even a statistic any more. Year before last I pondered doing small engine repair and had come up with the name. I thought I'd put it to good use.
