    Dead Tree

    I have a dead tree in my back yard I need to cut down, it seems to be central to only the one tree, would it be OK for me to use it as fire wood or should I have it hauled away? I don't want something to spread to my other trees.

    What is the first thing you do to your lawn in Spring? So you mow, rake, fertilize? I usually rake and clean up the old growth, cut everything back and let new growth start up.

    Too big a generator?

    Is there such thing as too big a generator for household use? There are 2 on sale this week, a hyundai and a champion, one is 7200 watts, the hyundai and it is on for $800 and the Champion is 4000 watts and it is on for $300

    First storm requiring ploughing

    Today we woke up to the first storm which required ploughing. I was out at 7 am moving vehicles so we could be ploughed out, then had to wait for snow plough so we could move what he left behind. What about you?

    Better "salt"

    Is there an environmentally friendly way to help like the "ice salt" stuff does? I am told the salt hurts the dog's and cat's feet, something about their foot pad, any suggestions would be helpful.

    3500 watt generator

    In your opinion would the 3500 watt generator be enough to run minimal appliances during a blackout? I am doing more research and our budget will allow us to buy a 3500 watt one but before we do I would like some opinions.

    Gearing up for snow

    Are you all gearing up for snow yet? Quite frankly I am about ready to build an ark because it has been raining here for nearly 2 weeks and it is double digit temps here. I am scared of what we get for snow, we have dug out the shovels but we are looking for new chains for the tractor.

    Nice Suprise

    I called last week about repairing the Ryobi trimmer that had been giving us nothing but grief, I hadn't heard back from them, was going to call tomorrow, while I was out today a brand new Ryobi trimmer arrived at my house today, not sure what the repairman told them, but kudos to him!

    I swear, our luck is horrible

    We now have a broken trimmer, a broken mower and a broken chainsaw. The chainsaw will take more to fix than it's worth, the lawn mower got broken trying to be fixed and now the trimmer, maybe we should go for something without a motor~

    Anyone had similar issues?

    I have never seen such poor quality in a trimmer. We bought a Ryobi trimmer brand new at Home Depot and used it last summer and by summer's end it was broken. We had to search high and low to find a place to repair it and now it has to go back, thankful it still has a warranty until next April.

    Ryobi Trimmer

    We just got the trimmer back from the shop, we had to wait for months to get the shaft assembly. Husband used it once and it ran out of gas so he gassed it all up to use it today and the engine is ceased so back to the repair shop it goes! Sucks it is an hour and 45 min drive to get it fixed :(

    I have a burdock problem

    Are there any suggestions for controlling and removing these pesky things from my lawn? If I let them grow I end up with a huge jungle in my backyard. I have tried digging them up but the roots seem so deep i never seem to get it all, are there any other suggestions?
