I dreamed about being a fireman when I was a kid, mostly because I liked the red trucks and playing in the water. But with my last name (Burns) no way I would have been able to endure all the kidding and the jokes I would have been subjected to as a fire fighter...

My Brother in-law is a paid firefighter.

My Woman's dad is a volunteer firefighter.

I was seriuosly considering being a volunteer years ago as a friend and cohourt of mine was such.
When I spoke to him at great length he told me the hardest part was being the first on the scene of a vehicle accident. He described having to cut the injured from a smashed vehicle only to have them expire minutes later.
I decided I was probably not suitable for that and volunteered in another area.

Between the Cypress knees, Aligators, Crawfish, and the Super Dome....we managed to build a few groups that we call "Parishes". Then we hung Confederate Flags on everything that stood still, and shot the rest!
