Out of patience,

Here is model number,31R 001G1 139517zA, asked if carb goes to fuel tank, no carb intake has vacuum line from top of fuel tank from what is called a rollover valve, to carb supply air inlet adapter, I have a new comp tester coming tomm. was posted known for "blowing head gaskets". will ck comp. also after thinking it could be a stuck float pin also or blocked, will pull and check tomm. Thanks. I tried to look this particular TB model up but site is a pay site. Just found tractor model number, #

well yes you are..........
here before you post all nasty again, I am pushing 70, I have 9 stents holding my heart working, 10 heart attacks, 4 mini strokes been shot 4 times and carry the scars from each one, my friends are all gone you know the ones who took or would take lead for you, So I came here for help, if I didn't need it, I wouldn't have asked, but your reply makes me wonder at times if the life I lived to provide a place for posts like yours, was worth the sacrifice..............imagine that..............

my suggestion is get rid of it and move on. Don't deal with that neighbor again ever. He did not respect you enough to tell you the truth about the mower. If he didn't get a permit you can always call the city and indicate that you want to know for your records if the permit for the work you did was finalized. If they can't find the permit you can always say I guess he lied to me about that too. He told me he was getting one. If anything is not done to code, he will be back to talk about it. Just tell him then you'll park the mower in his driveway until he gets it working right again.

If the engine has the fuel tank type that the carb bolts to the top of it, the tank surface of that kind is known to warp and let in air. No new carb will work right when that happens if it is the tank type in the image below. Note - you, the OP indicated in a post that it had a vacuum tube into the tank. This is the only kind of carb I know of that does that. There may be others but most of the freestanding carbs are gravity fed from a tank, or have a fuel pump. If the engine has a fuel pump, the fuel pumps often use a vacuum line and those kinds of pumps do go bad. I bought a power dethatcher that ran poorly and that is all that was wrong with it.

It sounds like you might want to ask your doctor if you have a problem with calcium being deposited in the arteries. I was 17 when it started on me and today nearing 80, it has been treated the last 3 or 4 years. Before it was treated, my arteries were as bad as yours. A heart bypass and treatment for the genetic arthritis that causes it in my life helps a lot. The body can have perfect cholesterol but if it thinks the body is under attack, it uses calcium to wall off the inflammation. With me it was an active HLA-B27 gene. Good luck. I wouldn't waste time on the mower if it was causing a bad day.

Okay I going to assume the engine is 31R707-0001-G1 but the date code is invalid. There is no month 95 here on Earth. Format is YYMMDDXX. So if the first two digits is 13 that would make it a 2013 engine. So it is a transplant most likely.

31R707-0001-g1 with a Nikki carburetor as the Ruixing carburetor came After Code Date 151129XX so the main jet inside the plastic tube would be PN 591936 (98 > 0.98mm) according to my chart. Now I look online at the high altitude they showing a 105 which can't be as high alt jets are always smaller not larger.

Now the Ruixing has a PN 597458 jet but I haven't seen the carburetor jet here so the size is unknown to me.

So if has the Walbro or its clone it is definitely the wrong carburetor spec wise.

Compression tester is useless on engines with automatic compression release. You must test using a small engine leak down tester with the rocker cover off. The these head gasket like to blow air escaping sound would be louder at the push rod galley vs the oil fill tube.

thank you for the info, I'll recheck that date code , was a little dirty to read on valve cover, it does have a nikki according to what I have read, it will be a few days before I can get back on it. Thank You.

Finally got thru the cobwebs here. I haven't this storage area in quite awhile. The following is a good beginner's guide to the Nikki Single Barrel carburetor. It will not cover all variations but does gives you the basics.

On top this I am in the process of changing Internet providers so I may go offline at any time as I upgrade equipment and provider does their thing. Yesterday I got in the new Gigabit router/WiFi unit to replace 100 Mbps one here. My service never got above 65 Mbps so the old router was fine but the new service supposedly can hit speeds up to 300 Mbps.

Boy going thru all the vendor accounts changing email addresses is taking awhile too. Some won't allow me to change it on my end.

Already found that Google won't accept my accounting program smtp sending so that had to be routed thru an old account instead. Google Two Step won't even work with my Win10 Pro system

I have tried three count em three, different carbs off amaz and flea bay,
Could of bought the wrong carb or the cheapest listing. I've had better luck buying a carb at say 10-15 bucks more than the cheapest listing. Can't explain it.
it has the electric shut off and not one will keep the engine running for a constant operation
With the key ON, do you have 12 volts DC AT the after-fire solenoid wires?
I then went to a sears pts catalog found that the Nikki carb is specific to this model and just ordered another one yesterday.
Oh boy, the dreaded Nikki Six carb strikes again. Some guys have luck with them. Me, I do the Walbro swap and never look back.
I found the coil s/o wire grounding out fixed that then adjusted the valve lash thinking burnt walves or bad seats, got it to run 3/4 throttle then is started dieing out then stalled, started and wouldn't barely run.
I'm going with trash in the fuel tank or lack of fuel delivery to the carb. An 11 year old mower, that tank is probably full of trash getting passed straight to the carb. Not to mention your fuel can. Do you have an OPEN TOP spout or a new style EPA pain in the rump spout? The type that takes 10 minutes to dispense a single gallon of fuel?

Red, you are throwing a ton of parts at this. Every NEW part you buy, REQUIRES TESTING. New doesn't mean new these days. Coils, carbs and so on......... I feel your frustration.

This tractor was a gift with numerous issues, it is a flood survivor,
What is not corroded far as electrical and such? You are going to have to go through everything on this mower to get her running proper.
This last carb as gov. kept moving back and forth, so I just accepted it and ran it,
She is running lean. She is thirsty, wants more fuel. When she does this, apply the choke to see if she smoothes out. The hunting should stop if she is lean. Check for vacuum leaks too.
yesterday, it started again with the popping, blk smoke, stalling and barley running, way over rich, wouldn't clear up for nothing sooo I ordered another carb
NOW, on THIS carb, we are rich as in the needle and seat probably are not sealing. Again, any and all new carbs will require testing. Pressure test the needle and seat at 7PSI for 30 minutes. If she holds, the needle is good. Spray something like PB Blaster on the needle tip when you do this test. Needle needs to be wet just like in service.
I know it is an older mower, to be honest these are not that complicated but this type of carb to me is, especially the warning "Must be specific to this engine" so help!!
Carb is well known POS. Most "non" sought after carb out there. Some guys have good luck, not me. Walbro swap again will do you wonders.

When I get a new to me used mower, if I see the word Nikki on the carb, I don't even mess with it. Order a 594593 Walbro.
