    Honda HRN 216 Mower

Is the oil level above the valve stems when not operating? 🤔 ⛔

Now the mower will not crank!

Another session of " Let's all give advice to someone who is marginally capable of understanding mechanical things." I swear, all of you must do this for fun.

That load compensation only occurs because the governor opens the throttle plate increasing intake airflow which lowers the intake pressure and the atmosphere pushes more fuel thru the orifice.

FJ180 scored crankshaft and top bearing

Image 6678 says Nope. The only way to save that would be clean it up, oxy/acetylene metal spray process to build it up and turn it in a lathe back to specified diameter. Not cheap.

I was of the same mind set. My last aircraft was a Bellanca Super Viking, 4 tanks, two on either side. I'd never let anyone fuel it because the inside tanks would fill really slowly so I'd have to do the left then the right, come back to the left and then back to the right. The out board tanks...

Up in PA several years ago a neighbor had a JD that would just die. Did all the normal investigations and determined it was a fuel issue. Looked into the tank and was amazed. Quite a bit of organic debris floating about including little leaf chunks. The amazing part there was no filter at the...

Well..."water". Let's look for root cause. 1. Mower stored indoors? 2. Fuel cans stored indoors? 3. Same Fuel cans? 4. Fuel obtained from same, well used gas station? I don't recall having any flooding lately. Nor has it been excessively humid. As for putting gas in a mason jar....unless you...

    Welch plugs

And just as a historical note....when Wernher Von Braun moved to Redstone Arsenal near Huntsville there was a conspiracy to welcome him...whenever he said "Huntsville" all the engineers would correct him with "Huntspatch" in a faux German accent. After a bit he started saying "Huntspatch".

Their emergency should not be your emergency. Yeah, I know. My Dad was an IA level aircraft mechanic for over 60 years. He once said "I can't figure out whether they bring me all their planes because I'm good or I'm cheap.". He ate costs too. But it didn't matter......

    Welch plugs

Welch plugs are there to hold something in like fuel in a carb passage but in most cases they are there to keep you from adjusting mixture screws or some other setting. Manufacturers don't trust the general public to make those adjustments.....and sometimes I don't blame them. This is a Welch...

I have taken care of my neighbor's machines and mine....two stroke or four. I do it for free because we all have a lot of yard and last year one of them took their Zero Turn to a shop and they just never got to it in 4 weeks. I mowed their lawn for free, too. Hell to cut if it gets too long...

I guess it's too hard to fire it up in idle and when "surging" and place both thumbs over the holes and see if it smooths out..... I'll bet the oil issue is unrelated.

You mean "premium" as in price? Well, if you're using less per gallon of gas, but you'd need 2x+ as much of the other stuff....is the price per gallon of gas the same or less. And generally price is not the driver. Do the rings stay free? Do you have to decarbon routinely? Do the plug(s)...

Craftman 5000 Watt Generator hard Starting when Hot

I can and I did. Multi cylinder vs single is not such a stretch. Both will be down on power and the single more so but it will run at 70. Saying it won't isn't true.

Use what you have where you are. 👍 Used to use my JD 5303 and a Bush Hog 7 foot trailing to do an 2300 foot grass runway. Worked as well as any other type of mower when set up properly.

    Bad Boy military discount

I have a Tanaka Japanese made trimmer from 1999 for $180 or so. Came with 7 year residential warranty. Still the original head on 5.5 acres, including the neighbor's shitty chain link fence. Maybe about the same number of tanks of fuel or a bit more depending on rainfall. Sadly, now out of business.

2 stroke longevity - how many hours

Are the bearings plain or ball? Ball bearings were introduced sometime in the 1920s to 1930s...you have to do a patent search to see who claimed to be first or at least had the idea. Needle bearings came along later in the 1930s and40s. My guess is that anyone recommending 16:1 was specifying...

    Backfiring through the exhaust

All you did was supply 12V and ground to each of the coil's terminals. Series, parallel, whatever.....makes no difference as far as I know. Each gets 12V and ground on the correct terminal. The reluctor wheel's magnet on the crankshaft triggers a Hall effect transistor in the "ignition module"...

    Backfiring through the exhaust

So...on an Onan two cylinder opposed, is there but one coil for both since both would fire at the same time. The only way for plugs to be in series would be on the opposed cylinder models. But looking at the diagram from post 62 shows the outputs to be in parallel, not series. Any V...

    Backfiring through the exhaust

Grab the cap and pull it off...won't get shocked unless you want to stick your finger in the end...🤔 The voltage isn't enough to each around the insulated cap. Many of the really old cables just had a bare metal clip that attached to the plug. If you have that I'd be surprised. However, in...

    Backfiring through the exhaust

Ignore the bad spark tester, good spark tester argument for the moment. While running pull the plug cap off one plug and note how it runs. Replace it and pull the other one. If there is a coil failing one of the two will cause a really rough running, skipping engine and the other might not (rare...
