One thing for sure, piston hit the head. Normally that means a broken connecting rod. Normally means it was running without oil pressure. Q for the OP, when did the oil light come on?
Very possible - in which case the pieces got between the head and piston. That has the same effect including a damaged rod. The point is there is no happy ending here with a loose wire or dirt in the carb. Engine comes apart and if any pieces hit the cylinders, cam ect, they are toast too.
