Guess I'll be the odd man out and say that I like it here. Maybe I'm more of a small-pond sort of fish, but I really hate large forums where I feel lost and ignored. A new post in a large forum is often overlooked in the swarm of new posts, whereas here, new posts are actually read and responded to. I like that.
I would much rather go somewhere with 3 new posts per day and have time to read them and give thoughtful responses, than to find 20 new posts per day and feel like it's a full-time job just to try to keep up with what everyone has to say.
With a title like "Lawn Mower Forum", you are not likely to draw a ton of new users in January. To expand the range of discussions, expand the topics you'd like to discuss. But that, by definition, changes what this forum is. If you want boards for discussions of the best place to go for snow skiing and tubing, that's great, but then this is no longer a "Lawn Mower Forum".
