Have a Zt1 with 300 hrs, so it's been great! Suddenly can't get the blades to turn, changed PTO switch, the drive belt turns when I use the switch (even if I'm not sitting on it which is strange) the belt is on correctly, 1/2 inch deflection so I assume tight enough - I'm not really very technical so I've heard people online suggest Ohm checks but I'm not sure how to do that - could the seat safety switch cause it to not engage - again the mower will run and turn the drive belt with me not sat on it. Any easy checks - I don't see any wires hanging etc turning the PTO I hear a slight- - sqeal but it does turn - any help much appreciated

Well let's start with the real model number from the serial number tag. That way we can see what you have there.

When you say drive belt turns are you referring to the motion drive belt or the PTO to deck belt?

No the seat switch does not affect the PTO other than shut the engine down if you're on the seat. Now a reverse inhibit switch can shut down the PTO depending on how things are wired. Again need the real model to look up wiring schematic. But should shut if you're on the seat; unless, the parking brake is set.

First test for PTO operation is with the engine not running. Do you hear PTO clutch engage when you turn on the PTO switch? If you then the PTO clutch is working. If not then it is not operating.

Now an OHM test is to the resistance of the PTO clutch field windings but if you hear the PTO engage then no need to test normally. An alternate test is to use a couple jumper wires and apply 12v to the PTO connector. If the clutch is good it will engage.

Your machine is a mystery to us without the product ID plate information. Reference the ID sticker under the seat mount area.
