The times that i lend a piece of equipment out it usually came back with something broke or bend (left to me to fix)with only,..sorry.. i hit a tree or a this crack was already there when i picked it up,.. but never ever cleaned or with a full tank if it had an engine.
On one occasion i borrowed a swather out to a neighbor to cut 30 acre oats cause his swather had blown the engine..I had just changed out the guards and knife on the cutter bar and topped of all fluids and fuel so he had a machine that was ready to go..
It was gone for a week and was parked back on my yard when i was gone. I used it a week or so later and found that the whole cutter bar was misaligned and had broken guards and broke/missing sections and a bone dry tank(it held 15 gal when full)..slam bam thank you mam!
Then i found out a couple years later this neighbor had gone and done some custom cutting a rocky field for another guy with that machine.

The few times i borrowed a piece of equipment from somebody it needed something fixed before it was usable:rolleyes:
And i always returned it in same or better shape than it came.

I quit being an idiot,..i no longer borrow and i don't lend,..period.

My wifes friend asked me to borrow my weedeater and blower she was stunned I said no. I offered to go help her she told me no she wants to do it herself. Me and wife got into a fight I was like look this is part of how I bring money into the house I cannot afford any accidents that are not my fault...

Oh jeah,..and then there's family:rolleyes:

The last thing i borrowed was a brandnew $400 honda 4 stroke weed eater to my only Brother cause his own got run over with the truck by his stupid SIL. i had used it maybe 2 hours. I reluctantly let him take it cause his kids are rough with everything and were the ones most likely to use it.
When i got it back a couple weeks later it was covered in mud and grass juices and rusty and all scratched up + a tear in the carrying harnas.
I said , this ain't mine, mine was new and clean and not damaged. he said sorry bro,.. i'll shine it up next time,.I replied sorry bud there ain't gonna be a "next time".
When i wanted to use it a couple weeks later i found the cutter head was seized by a piece of steel wire, they must have gotten in a piece of wire mess and buggered up the seal in the bearing and wrapped the wire so tight that it would not turn anymore.

Thanks bro,i appreciate it

I loaned a ladder to a neighbor once-it was brand new and not yet used and I got it back covered in paint blotches and looking like it belonged to a 5 year old. Ever since then I loan only to people I explicitly trust to either keep things right or MAKE things right.
