Bertman, hang on to that memory brother.. .. If .. .. .. (BIG "IF") .. .. .. life goes well, you may get to retire and return to that river bank and do some more fishing. I will readily admit that I doubt you will be able to drop out of the daily work scene directly into full retirement, most of us workhorses have trouble with that at first. (I tired to retire twice and then finally just gave in to working at whatever came along) - BUT! - I do go fishing, hunting, whatever, when the feeling or opportunity arises.
It occurs to me that someone needs to open a parts store in the land of OZ that carries parts for whatever the most common machines from the US are down your way. It would be a good business and you wouldn't be the one scratching his head when you ran into something that just wouldn't "fix"!
Good luck and keep swearing, it's good for the soul...

Not that I wish anything bad to happen to Heavy Hauler Willy, but may I suggest "anal seepage"? A devastating condition, especially when occurring in coincidence with 'gas'... He'd never be able to leave the house again and would have to live in Depends!

Blackberries
I went berry picking yesterday after a buddy of mine told me his berries were coming in early and he'd already picked ten gallons of them. (He makes a very decent blackberry wine from them all.)
Evidently the cooler temps nearer the coast have held the berries back where I go, as I would have guessed only about 10% were ripe. But I was determined to fill my bucket (2-1/2 gallons) and plowed into some of the thickest brambles I've ever encountered. After two hours I finally gave up with the bucket only about half full and both of my arms looking like I'd hauled the neighbors cat out of the middle of a fight!
Boo, remember how in the service when we spotted an especially fine looking young lady we might comment on how we'd be willing to crawl on our hands and knees over five miles of broken bottles just to smell the exhaust of the laundry truck that hauled her skivvies away??? Well, I look like I did exactly that! I am scratched from arse-hole to appetite! And all I make from my blackberries is blackberry jelly! But I do love blackberry jelly! I put up 21 pints of it last year and I hope for a like amount this year.
