thanks that is what I plan to do. Buy small quantities at a time too.Save your money on buying True Fuel and simply use fresh pump gas that is correctly stored.

I wouldn't.Using True Fuel 4 cycle gas exclusively.
Lack of fuel delivery or dirty carb. Probably left gas from last year in it.About 20 seconds later it quits.
Air. Pressurizes the carb bowl pushing gas up through the emulsion tube into the cylinder. When I prime the engine. Does it let in air or gas.
Does it say Torch on it? If so toss it in the trash.Replaced sparkplug.
Excellent. Need a solid flow of gas AT the carb inlet.Today I will pull the gas tank, check for blockage.
Waste of time. You either have spark or you don't. Test with an open gap or adjustable gap tester. Don't use the Christmas light style. They offer zero far as how strong the spark is at low, med and high revs.I will try to check the magneto with a multimeter.
I used a business card to time the magneto and it worked fine for a couple years but I have an auto spark plug gap tester as well. Use it on the spark plug. Nothing says torch on it. ProbablyLack of fuel delivery or dirty carb. Probably left gas from last year in it.

Gap the magneto to flywheel at 0.010".
Duuuuuude I’m impressed with how you’ve taken care of that mower……just had to say something. I had an older Toro push mower, pre safety blade stop that I sold 15+ yrs old for more than I paid for it LOL. Still sorry I got rid of it!Sure Star Tech.

In noticed the air breather tube fits loosely and can come off easy without much trouble.
Also for some time the engine had to be rocked back and forth several times durring start up in the period before failure. Imitial start up is strong before shutting down.

Hello all.
First the stats you ask for.
Weedeater push mower pull start basic budget homeowner mower.
Briggs and Stratton 80000 450E engine.
Owned 8 years.
Symptom: Press prime bulb a few times. Engine roars to life after a few pulls. About 20 seconds later it quits.
When I prime the engine. Does it let in air or gas.
Using True Fuel 4 cycle gas exclusively.
What I have done to resolve the problem:
Replaced carb with new carb. Replaced sparkplug. Replaced gas. Put Seafoam in tank. Replaced fuel cap with OE fuel cap. Bale switch is clean.
Today I will pull the gas tank, check for blockage. Is there a filter in there and do I need a filter? I will try to check the magneto with a multimeter.
In 2021 I replaced the magneto (weak), carburator, bale cable.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
There may be a filter inside the tank or a screen where fuel enters the carb. Good Luck.Hello all.

I replaced the carb with a brand new one and still have the same problem. I will consider the marine conditioner thanks. I always use the highest octane I can get. Will probably go back to Sunoco 93 Octane. I checked the tank carefully, if there is a screen I cannot get at it. I drained the tank and the fuel poured out of the hose no problem, so no blockage there and I could see clear through the hose, no filter there.Yes you have a fuel problem, some times a screen is in the tank, sometimes a screen in the fuel inlet where the hose connects, and some times there is a very fine screen in the carb that stops everything. When you get it fixed may I suggest using a marine fuel conditioner in the supply container. I use it all year since the alcohol blends. 90% of fuel problems cured. The main jet usually gets plugged and should be cleaned. If two cycle use 89 octane minimum. Good luck.
