Starter Spins But Won't Crank

Before purchasing a new starter I would remove the starter and do a little troubleshooting. I suspect the clutch is just stuck on the shaft and needs a little cleaning and light coat of lube. You have to remove the starter either way so troubleshooting before purchasing may save you $$$$.
Yes, I plan on doing that before ordering anything. Thanks.
 
Yes, that video I watched showed how the guy took the starter apart. And, he took great pains with the brushes. But I don't think I'll be messing around those parts. I'm going to check out the pinion clutch, if worn down it'd be cheaper for me to buy a new starter from Amazon.

He doesn’t have to open the starter motor, as he says it spins. Just needs to remove the top case to inspect the clutch.
