snapper zero turn clutch testing

Ok, heading back out tomorrow. I got an idler pulley, and it looks just like the one I removed, though not as worn. The edges of the pulley were worn down a good bit. Looking at the pulley, it seems like the taper will fit best if the pulley is on the inside of the belt. I searched online, and all the manuals I found looked like the pulley was on the outside of the belt pressing in. Does anyone know specifics on this mower or have a pic? I found drawings of the pulley arrangement, but it doesn't show the belt. the hole near centerline for the spring would go with this. There's another hole more to the rear, and off to the side that may work with the pulley inside. I will check that out, and bring my laptop to post pics if I have time. I have about 3 hours I can do onsite before I have to head out for another commitment. Thanks in advance...
 
I put the idler pulley on the inside, and put a little bracket on one of the bolts through the side, and hooked the idler pulley to it. It's a new belt reasonably tight without the pulley. We'll see how it goes as the belt wears.
 
So, coming back to this guy... I redid the belts, battery was dead, ran out of time. My brother tried charging the battery and had no luck. I went back and brought a good battery. Since the machine had hydrolocked, I changed the oil before trying to start. It did not turn the motor or click. I thought maybe safety switches and played with PTO switch to make sure it was disengaged, and noticed smoke from the back of the engine area. Turns out it was the voltage regulator, which I was suspecting might be bad, since it seemed to have problems charging when running, and the battery would always be dead when we came to work on it. I've ordered a regulator, are there any more suspects for this symptom? When we get past the electrical stuff, it seems to run well.
