mine you can change gears without hitting the clutch/brake pedal.
and by the variable speed you mean the hydrostatic transmission correct?

Shift on the go also called shift on the fly meaning no need to stop to shift gears or have to use a clutch, but to change gears while moving.

The only thing in that link that made any sense was written by ILENGINE .

Historically a typical variable speed mower system had a shift lever for forward and reverse and that was its total function . A second lever , that typically had 7 positions , was to change travel speeds and this speed change lever was to be moved to different positions without disengaging the clutch or even touching the foot clutch in any way .

Does the mower in the original post have this set up? That's my question and I'm stickin to it . :laughing:
