Rough running B&S Quantum XTE 6 hp

Sprayed carb cleaner in small holes in carb and on bottom nut.
Used small wire to try and clean.
Put new spark plug and put it back together.

At first it seemed to run better but then started surging again like original video.

How about the bowl nut/main jet?
The surging is usually from the small jets on either side of the choke butterfly.
What choke/carb cleaner are you using?
Any compressed air?
Might need a new gasket?

You are lucky it has the teeth on the flywheel! You can add electric start for about $50 including the two bolts to hold it on.

Shop Pro carb cleaner spray can with red tube.

Sprayed the bottom nut holes and the hole I could see from where the bowl was.

Did not know there are two each side of butterfly ... will try next.

Do have an air compressor and will try that also.

I looked closer at your carburetor and I believe it’s aftermarket not original. Original Briggs carburetors have stampings. Usually Walbro. Your carburetor is way too clean for the age of the engine!

If you still aren’t happy, then I suggest you consider this new aftermarket and call it a day. Unless you can locate the original carburetor to clean it?

Should there be a gasket where I indicated in my last image ?

Yes this looks like a fairly new carb ... now thinking it was replaced and possible gasket was not installed.

Appreciate your efforts and links.

May just get the kit and hopefully that will fix it.
