Briggs & Stratton, "Diamond Power", 6 HP, on 21" cut, self propelled walking mower.

Model#12H800, Type # 1538-21, Code#96022756

Does not appear to be getting spark at the plug. I pulled off the flywheel expecting to see stuck points. There were no points. Disconnected the Stop Switch as I thought it might be grounding out. Do the Armature-Magnetos give much trouble on these?

Would like to find repair manual info to test the Armature-Magneto before spending $50+ on a 20 year old machine.

Also, would like to know the correct Spark Plug for this engine.

Any help appreciated.

Not common for coils giving problems.

Check the wire from stop switch to coil has not chafed through.

Also to check spark then you need a spark tester.
Holding plug against engine will not test it correctly.

Plug should be a Champion RJ19LMR.

Disconnect the kill wire on the module, crank engine with know good spark plug. No spark replace module. They do fail on occasion.

Guess what? A new spark plug was what was needed. dnkjr
