I'm in the market for a new laptop computer, what model would be best to get? I'm using an Hp now and I'm not crazy over it. I would like to move up to a touch screen. Any suggestions?

Lenovo, Acer, Sony VAIO. But it holds me back from buying touchscreen laptops because it's a pain in the arm and wrist and costs a lot. And when the touchscreen feature becomes unresponsive, I think that's would be a real problem.

I recently gave up Microsoft and went with the Google Chromebook.

I like my Chromebook. You are living in the world of Google with a Chromebook, but it's not a bad world, especially if you are used to Android already.

Chromebooks are basically an Android Tablet with a keyboard attached. They run on the cloud. Yes, you can save things to the static memory, but here is no hard drive nor is there a DVD. They do have USB and HDMI ports. They do not run programs, they run Apps. No Microsoft Office, but there is Google Apps that do the same thing and can read/save in similar formats as WORD, EXCEL and POWERPOINT. They are "Thin Client" devices meaning EVERYTHING happens within the shell of the Google Chrome Web Browser.

They are very inexpensive. I only paid $149 at Amazon for my newest one with 16 gig of memory, a 14 plus inch screen and a very fast processor. $149 delivered with Prime. Mine is not Touchscreen, but I am not a fan of Touchscreen. My phone and my tablet are touchscreen and they are good for what they do, but I much prefer a keyboard and a trackpad/mouse.

If you are truly wanting to stay with Microsoft driven products, the new Microsoft laptops called "HP STREAM" are like Chromebooks but driven by Microsoft Windows 8.1.
They are more pricey than Chromebooks but you are staying with a Microsoft product if that is your gig. They run about $249 at Amazon.

I traded a 10 year old desk top that was running vista I hadn't used in forever for a new NEXT BOOK and it's a pretty cool little tab. It's a 10.1 inch screen, It's a Quad-Core 2 n 1 with detachable keyboard. Does everything as the lap top and a whole lot more. Windows 8.1 Touch screen 1GB/DDR, internal memory is 32 GB and is expandable to 64GB with two cameras, USB and HDMI ports and a whole bunch of apps. Battery life is like 6 or 7 hrs. Definitely different to use. If you want to buy one there only $179.00

You gotta' love when technology drives prices down to these levels. Well, Chinese manufacturing and import does not hurt the wallet as well. Hurting the job front? That's another story.....

I happen to have a WindowsPhone. I love it. I think Windows 8.1 is tremendous. If I had known that I could get a Nextbook for that price, I probably would have bought one. I looked hard at Amazon and could not find one anywhere near that price. Oh well.

Still, I'm happy with my ChromeBook, and, I do like Google. It's just that now I'm 1/2 Windows with my phone, and 1/2 Google with my Laptop. It would be better to have one platform. It makes syncing easy. But, I do prefer Google Calendar, and Google Contacts for my business. And I got tired of paying big bucks for Microsoft Office when Google Docs is 100 percent free and does 100 percent of what I need for work processing, spreadsheet and slide shows.

I guess I have to look at a better Android phone soon. My old one was Android 2.3 and that is ANCIENT in today's market.
