I'm in the market for a new laptop computer, what model would be best to get? I'm using an Hp now and I'm not crazy over it. I would like to move up to a touch screen. Any suggestions?

I have worked in electronics dept at Walmart for 5yrs. If you want touch, get a windows based tablet with attachable keyboard. If you want laptop don't get one that has a touch screen. (yes they make them)

Screw that.

The programs that I run on my computer on a daily basis would probably fry a tablet.

But aside from that, maybe he wants something with a disk drive in it???

And some usb ports.

I never said they were perfect. Every brand has their lemons. I was just saying that, in my opinion, Lenovo is one of the best computers out there.

It's like saying that Chevys are one of the best vehicles out there, but they too have lemons.
I completely agree every company is going to have a lemon or two its almost inevitable to not have one it is disappointing though when you encounter one that's why I always make sure there is a 90 day return policy that way I know I made the right decision. I also really like Lenovo that what I am using right now not very fancy but is very reliable and durable although I am in the market for something with a little more power for college ASUS is what I am leaning toward Good Luck Though With the earlier posters decision.

I don't like any new computers. My desktop is a custom built computer from when I was a Gamer. Spent 6500 bucks back in the day (prolly the equavelant of a $500 computer now) it runs everything beautiful except I still have win xp and won't get rid of it either. Google stopped working because they don't support it anymore.

Look on craigslist find a computer builder guy and have him build you a custom laptop you won't regret it.. might cost a little more but just like a lawnmower with care it'll last a long time

I would Upgrade the OS without support XP cannot receive firmware and security updates fine as long as you don't make any purchases on the desktop or do any banking.

Or maybe have some decent firewalls. I use a home made firewall. Essentially nothing gets in or out without permission. Websites are not allowed to leave cookies or a cache. Websites take a while to load but its worth it.

No Mac fans on here. I have a IMac and a MacBook Pro. They are very nice and easy to use machines. Wouldn't go with anything else at the moment , considering about every electronic device I own is an Apple product.

Well I finally did it, went out and got my new computer. I purchased the 15.6" Toshiba Satellite Touchscreen. 8GB memory and a 1TB hard drive Windows 8.1 with the Intel Core i3. Works really nice.

Sounds like a darn nice laptop. Have you fiddled with Win 8 before? I hate radical change, but it's probably really stable. I still think Win 7 is brand new!

I have two Dell computers at my house, one is a desktop with Windows 8.1 and my Dell Laptop with windows 8.1. In my truck I have a Lenovo ThinkPad which is Windows 8 (tablet-laptop.)

All three work really good. For anyone in the market for a new computer, get a Dell or a Lenovo.
