new enclosed trailer.

So I bought a new enclosed trailer and I wanted to make my own racks for it. For the trimmers. Do most people use small screws thru the studs to hold up a rack or what?

Nice enclosed trailer and yes I used self tapping screws into the aluminum studs. Just make sure they are large enough to hold the weight of the racks as well as the trimmers. enjoy setting up your trailer.

I know if it was my trailer I sure wouldn't want holes in it, nice looking trailer. You could also maybe drill and tap the inside frame, cap screws might be a little stronger then self taping screws.

It's just there silly rules like the one that says no recreational vehicles allowed in driveways including 4x4 with oversize tires. We have so many restrictions it's pathetic.

I don't live in city limits and my shop is on my property. I'm not sure how I'd deal with someone telling what I can or can not do on my property. unless they are making your house payment I don't think I'd care what they had to say.

Having lived in Fla over 20 years, I can say that some places there have very strict HOA rules & You must agree & sign a document of their rules to become part of that community..
And there is plenty they can do for non-compliance. Unfortunately some HOA's get on a power trip.

Friend was told he needed to check with his HOA about changing the paint colors on his house..

I've been living in the country (TN) for quite a while now, next to a hundred acres of farm land growing winter wheat . No HOA here......Made sure of that.

To the OP: Very Nice Trailer..

In this great state of NY they can bring you into town court. Then they can fine you. Don't pay they will take you to jail. Is this a free country? As far as I can see it there is a lot of dumb laws out there like seat belts, etc., but you live by them or fight the system your choice. Look at history when you fight the system, like John Africa and the Move organization in Philadelphia.

Unfortunately your right, they have very strict HOA rules here & You must agree & sign a document of their rules to become part of the community and I also have to check with them about painting the house if I decide to change color. For Non- Compliance they can fine you and put a lien on your home or make you leave the community. They made my neighbor move because he had his business advertisement in the windows of his vehicle parked in his drive. That was one reason I went with Magnetic signs for the truck.

I don't think that seat belts are a dumb law. I'm sure it saves thousands of lives each year.

I'm going to try to install some racks on Monday or tuesday. But the walls on the inside of the trailer is wood from the floor all the way to the ceiling. How do I locate the studs? Buy a big magnet or what?

A cheap harbor freight stud finder. Or the old tap with a hammer trick if the sound changes you found a stud

Alritey I'll buy one of those if I need to. Just don't want to buy it if it's expensive bcuz I'll only use it once

Cheap stud finder should only be about $5 - $7. Got mine at Home Depot.. Of course fancier ones cost more.

wall studs in your new trailer may be aluminun, so no magnet will work.

The hammer tap like exotion mentioned is an easy way, once you get an ear for the sound changes.

Very nice trailer and setup!

I see that you seem to have a Commercial Snapper. I got the cash to get one for next season. I wanted to get the Snapper Hi-Vac for mulching leaves and bag in the wet season. How do you like yours?

all you have to do is locate where the screws are that holds the ply wood in place and line up there.

We are in our second year of using an enclosed trailer. It has a lot of pros and some cons I guess.

Hauling as much equipment as we haul and unloading as much as we do ours has taken a pounding. I plan to try to make one more year with the one we have and then look at possibly updating to one that is a little heavier.

Mine is 16' two axle. It is. V nose. 6' wide inside and 7' tall inside if I remember correctly.
