Need help for a possible lost cause

I got this riding mower in hopes of repairing it for myself but I am finding out that it may be a lost cause! The tag with the model and serial numbers is partially missing and I only have a partial model number. Model # 917.2588??. Best I can tell I am missing the last 2 digits. All I have to go on is the motor- Kohler Command 18.5 model # CV18S. The motor looks good but the mower is missing the deck and possible other parts as I haven't tried to tear into it yet. I am attaching pics. If anyone can help with a way to get the model # or any ideas what would cross over for parts I would greatly appreciate it!

I suggest going online to SearsPartsDirect.com and key in the part number you have and starting at "01" add the last two digits until your mower shows up. It'll take a while, but at the most, you'll only have to do it 99 times!

Suggest the same, except just type in the number you have and a list will appear.

I'd try to find a good mower junque-yarde...One identical to yours may be there...and with reason, usually.

Im new here but I believe that one is about 17 years old I could be wrong but Google might help you with the just put in what you have. I see allot of craftmans used that engine.
