Bison, I'm impressed. I didn't think that that took place as recently as you say. You were serious, Right.

JM, sorry to hear about your connection problem hope it can be straightened out sooner than later.

You are a lucky man

What part were they from?

My father's family was from Rotterdam and mothers family Zeeland. When I was younger my father would take me to Rotterdam and visit relatives. No grass mowing because as I remember everyone lived in apartments.

Yeah,Rotterdam is just a pile of concrete like any other big city, the only grass is the kind they smoke.
Zeeland however is still largely farmland i think.
I was born on a farm in Leiden(40 km north of Rotterdam)

BtW reynoldston sounds english.

We dutchies were poor and could not afford leather shoes,so we made our own from a block of poplar.
They musta been the predecessor of the steel toed boots, they saved my feet and toes many a time in de barn when a dairy cow or horse stepped on them back when.
They are terrible to drive a car with though, got to be carefull not to step on the brake and trottle at the same time.
It is also very tough to sneak up behind some one without making noise
And when they wore out one could make a nice hanging flowerpot outa them.
I wore them all day every day for the better part of 30 years,i grew up with them.

I was talking about wooden shoes. Wow!
