Husqvarna LS2042 front wheel toe out

I have a Husqvarna LS2042 that I bought used and the front wheels have always been toed out and pretty loose so I finally bought 2 new steering arm and the left steering link. Right link seemed pretty tight though the hole for the link in the steering arm was a bit oval. Put it back together and wheels are still toed out. The right link is the only part not replaced and if it had gotten bent in use, I assume it would have bent more at the existing bends, which would have made the wheels toe in more rather than out. I'm sure the gear selector plate is worn some but I assume that that would just cause play between in and out, not permanent toe out. Any thoughts on what else might be going on would be appreciated. Thanks, LP

I assuming you mean 2042 LS and front spindles.

Now you assuming impacts would compress the drag links which is not the case. They get stretch out most times as impacts are usually done with the mower going forwards, not backwards..Spindles also can get twisted from impacts but it appears that you have already replaced them.

I am going to assume you already checked the sector gear pivot hole for wear. But that usually shows up with the toe changing forward to reverse positions.

Center the steering sector gear and check the toe. One side may toed out more than the other and that side is one that drag link needs to be shorten by using a hydraulic press at the bends. Make small adjusting bends and test often as tiny amounts can make big differences.

If a front wheel hits something I don't see how it would straighten the link. Is there any reason I could not heat the link at the bends and add more bend that way? I don't have a hydraulic press

Well it is how the system works. The drag link pushes the RH spindle to turn right and the LH pulls and vice versa for LH turns. So if toe is out one or both are pushing more than pulling.

As for heating it will work although it also weaken the drag link. Another option is to install adjustable drag links.

"The drag link pushes the RH spindle to turn right and the LH pulls and vice versa for LH turns". Thanks, I had to think about that a bit but finally got it
