How to stop cut grass blades from accumulating inside mower cavity?

Does your Ego model have Ego's Select Cut™ Multi-Blade Cutting System? This is two blades on the same axis/spindle/motor (the two blades in an X pattern), which makes a much finer cut - chops (mulches) the grass blades up even shorter than with single blade.

It also greatly reduces the compromise between maintaining quality of cut and higher mower travel speed, especially if the grass has gotten taller or thicker than normal.

ANYWAY, I'm thinking the finer (shorter) mulched clippings will clump less under the deck (similar to what X580 was suggesting in post #6)

When I was looking at the Ego mowers, I noticed the lower-end models have single blades, but as you moved up the product line, the higher-end models come with the dual-blades. Perhaps they have a dual-blade kit to convert the lower-end models.

FYI - though you're correct about most electrics, including the Ego's, my Ryobi zero-turn has 3 blade speeds. But I always keep it on the highest blade speed for best quality of cut (better lift and mulching) with minor impact on battery charge run time. I also added the dual blades-per-spindle kit that Ryobi makes available (about $50 per deck - IOW complete 4-blade set for 2 spindles) similar to what I described in my previous post for the Ego for finer mulching, best quality of cut, and maintaining faster cutting (faster travel speed) even if grass is thicker or taller than normal. 👍

I use lanolin smeared on the areas where grass tends to clump. It works very well on the plastic housing of my battery mower for a dozen or so mowings until it needs to be re-applied.

Lanolin oil or cream from a drug store works, as does Fluid Film. Lanolin is thixotropic, so shake it well. (Fluid Film in the can, as opposed to aerosol, is most cost-effective. I wipe it on with a piece of paper.)

Lanolin won't harm grass, but your dog will follow you around looking for the sheep.

Mark, this rug has been beat many times, I think I can say we all fight this issue and many of us have tried it all. I use (EZ-Slide Graphite Aerosol) on my Toro push mower with good results, stays on push mower pretty good but a big machine will push it off rather quickly, I only trim and cut a small area of the road bank/ditch so it doesn't get much use, on my Zero turn does the heavy lifting. I clean the bottom of the deck each time I change blades, spray Rustoleum rust inhibitor on anything with any sign of rust, let it dry over night, then swab on a coat of motor oil, this turns a blade swap 2 step/2day affair. As for cutting only when it is dry, in GA during the mid-summer, grass is shady areas is sometimes still wet from the dew at 3 and it is wet again before dark, honestly some days it's never dry so cutting dry is seldom an option. Turn it over , clean , dry . then apply a heavy coating of paraffin . A 1,500 watt heat gun or propane torch will melt a thick coating on .
