I hope everybody is having a wonderful day!

Here it will just be a quiet meal of Beef & Guiness Pie and Orange Drizzle Cake for desert, then sitting in front of the television for a while before retiring to bed.

I say this every year, but I honestly don't know how I'm going to stop writing 2014 now. It took me until a couple of months ago to switch over from automatically writing 2013 and now it has to change AGAIN.

The former is a beef pie with Guiness (beer) in it and the latter is an orange cake with icing drizzled over it.

Sounds good, but I don't about the beer in the beef pie??? I like my beer in a nice cold glass. I went to the UK years ago now and as I remembered if you wanted a cold beer you had to ask for it because they drank their beer warm back then.

You had to ASK for a cold beer!? You need to drink else where I'd say!

The beer was added to the pie for extra flavouring, but for drinking it is ALWAYS drank ice cold (at least, in my area).

When I said back then it was the early 70's in Ireland. Sounds like time has changed things. Its been s few years back but also as I recall it was also a dark colored beer and they drank it warm. Sounds to me like they took some lessons from the US and know how to drink good beer now.

If it was dark coloured it could well have been Guiness, but I've never heard of it being drank warm, maybe that was how they used to serve it in Ireland.

One thing for sure I am no expert on UK beer. It was a one week vacation through Ireland over 45 years ago on a bus tour. What in the world do I know, nothing. I didn't even know how to count your money at the time. You live there every day so that sure puts you at a very good advantage. Cold beer in Scotland for sure and always has been. I like my Genny made in Rochester NY.

Q: Why do the English drink warm beer?
A: Lucas refrigerators

When I see Lucas I think of Lucas Oil.. It looks like Lucas have put some junk products out in the UK. Maybe something like AMF did over in the US. Word gets out fast. AMF tried to put Harley Davidson out of business with junk workmanship.
