You have a point.

Occasionally, I come across a weed that actually looks quite attractive, and I wish I didn't have to pull it out

If it's attractive, why pull it out?

musck thistle was imported here from England and planted as an ornamental,it flourished and is now considered one of the top 5 noxious weeds. If it's growing on your property you are required to eradicate it .If you don't do it and the county does it you get the charge from the county.Cattle won't go through this stuff,it's illeagle to sell hay contaminated with thistle.I was looking at a Momosa tree the other day and was wishing I had one ,it was in bloom and was really pretty.I got to reading up on them and learned they were brought over from China. The state of Florida considers them an envasive species because they take over areas and crowd out native species.Once established they are very hard to eradicate....russ

Glad your hip is allowing you to play in the weeds...
Queens Lace is a big problem when we get good moisture... this year it has been so dry there is None...
but you are right about the little seeds, they stick to everything... the best way to deal with the seed clusters is an open Flame.... anything else just relocates the things...
While they are growing, with the little white flowers they are handy to pull out after a rain... not much root for such a big plant..:smile:KennyV

Since having hip surgery in June I did'nt do much this summer as far as yard work. Now that I'm starting to feel better I've started clearing areas around my barn that in yrs past I took care of.These areas had become overgrown with weeds, some as high as 10'.The best way for me to "weed" is to pull them out by the roots. The process is slow but it only has to be done once for most of them.In doing this there are basically 4 main weeds that seem to like my area and in order of ease and dislike here is the list.Starting at the easiest #4 would be CornWeed,#3is a toss up so I'll go with Thistle#2is good old PoisionIvey.I wore a shortsleeved shirt and am now paying the price for my folley. And my #1 most hated weed to pull is non other than QueenAnns Lace. The ripe seeds from this weed stick to any thing they touch, gloves, shirts, pants, socks, and leg and arm hairs. Not only do they grow in profusium but they make billions of seeds.well thats my most hated weed list.Does anyone else have a list? russ

Is there any such thing as really getting caught up...... Good to see you are back on your feet.. I know how those long recoveries are..
