No Twall, no JMurray, and I am tired of keeping things going maybe somebody else should contribute once in a while. Almost never visit LMF anymore for obvious reasons. How am I going to get to the 2500 post mark without postwhoring unless the rest of you contribute?

Yeah, you know who you are....and do I really NEED 2500 posts....????

I think LMF not allowing advertising or links in members sig. any longer is why we have noticed a downward slide in participation. Most members were only in the forum for selfish reasons and not here to share experiences or actually help someone for nothing. I feel this forum is in a transition and it will pick back up in the future hopefully. I do miss my link in my sig., that is why I feel the way I do. The forum still interest me though because of its content, so I'll continue to check in and see what's going on.

The change in seasons may have something to do with the drop in posting. I'm still doing a lot of mowing but I live in the South.

I liked the thread on night mowing. That's the best really good one recently.

Who else has had Humming Birds (Hummy Hogs) and have they left your area yet ? Most are gone now from Madison, VA. We have had about 3 dozen all summer and they go through over 10 lbs of sugar a week.

Some Yahoo from HillyBilly land is claiming he cuts 70 yards a week with his Crapman and his machine will also cut down 6 foot high grass....I asked him if he cuts 70 square or linear yards. PFFFTTT.....my Deere will mow over 3 foot waist high weeds at maximum RPM but it has to work really hard to do that with a MMM. I tried doing the same thing with my old 318 that had a 50 inch deck, it could handle maybe a two foot width without stalling , at maximum throttle.

I have them here but I only see them once in a while. There's a pair, and like the other humming birds in these parts, they aren't interested in feeders.
Mine are iridsecent green, and difficult to indentify correctly.
I do have a gopher tortise in the yard this year.
By the way, I was thinking we could start a new thread or forum where we could post pics of the flora and fauna we have in our well kept/mowed yards and gardens.
What do you guys think...might perk up the front porch a bit.....

Muhammad...if your around do you think this would be a good idea or not?

I have a crapman with a 24hp twin that does pretty good.. Craftsman is a pretty good mower Deere is pretty good too.. But i think i am going to give a commercial unit a try next season. I have been looking at the Cub Tanks anyone have any input on those? What say you yankee??...:laughing:.... Just kidding after the Hillbilly thing i couldnt help myself...:laughing:

JD Bobby sue . Why do you feel you need to talk s hit I don't know you so why would I lie Abd make up a story And why would you think it's hard to cut 70 yards a week? A few years ago we did it with snapper push mowers. It sounds to me your mower just as you just don't have any balls 18,000 you paid and can't cut grass over a foot to funny. I read alot of your post and you act as if you are better than every one on here but not once did I see where you helped anyone get back up an mowing. The fact that you feel the need to tell us how much you pay for things says alot about what kind of man you are not. John Deere makes some good stuff. I know you think the best. But is it not true if you are proud of your mower you should brag about once in awhile? And I will post a pic of weeds over my head while I am sitting on my bad *** mower making a pass straight threw the middle. Sir, your assertions are indeed something to raise an eyebrow at. 70 yards a week is 10 a day, 7 days - which is doable, but difficult to believe (which I do believe is what JD was getting at, whether you like how he did it or not). They can't be that big. Otherwise, that's at least 10 HOURS a day, seven days a week, for decent sized lawns. Again, doable, but not probable on a weekly basis. I dunno that something you can cut in 15 minutes with a weed whacker is big enough to consider a 'lawn' - but I digress. All done with a Craftsman - not known for their commercial prowess, generally. Methinks you might stretch the truth a tad whilst doing your 'bragging'.

IOW, JD was just calling BS on you, which I can see why.

I dont give a bleep if 50 or 500 sent you a msg saying they dont like me because there are probably 50 or 500 people of LMF I dont like either and if you say I dont have any mechanical ability you are full of s--- BIG TIME. I worked for 31 years as a carpenter and maintenance mechanic and probably have more skills than the vast majority of members here on LMF and I do all the repair work on our 3 cars my truck our motorhome and my tractor. So if you dont like me well why should I give a s--- about some bragging redneck hillbilly.

I do bank foreclosed homes and some yards I am doing now went back to the bank after the tornados hit us in April so yes weeds get high. If it takes you a hour to cut a acre then your to slow to work with me. Why you find it hard to do 70 in a week I don't know there are guys who do more than that a week it not hard. The sun comes up at 6am at first yard leave last yard around 8.30 9:00 pm as it gets to dark to take pics of yard Like I told jdgreen I take 32 pics per yard with date stamp And will send all you want to prove how many I do. 15 yesterday in the rain The biggest key to cut fast is do not use a nice gator blade that I use on my own yard. Use a cheap blade that does not mulch as they keep the grass in the deck to long. Run your blade belt a half inch bigger don't know why but does not bog motor down and belt last longer. Change blades every 5 yards. I have been doing this for years started in 1992 when I moved down here from cape cod mass. I came on here to get help I just started to use Briggs and can't keep them running good after around 100 yards they back fire and don't start easy I change oil and plugs every 30 yards Maybe some of you need to learn not to make fun of or criticize thing you can not do or dont under stand If you do not learn something new every day then the day was a waste If you want to see how much your mower can so mow a corn field. Just thinking might be fun

Explain and inform rather than call names and use foul language (even if disguised).

I'm sure some people have good luck with nearly every brand of mower and others have poor experience.

What works for one person in one part of the country with different grass might not work for another in another place.

Different machines for different uses and different methods for different applications.

I'm sure some people wouldn't believe some of the things that I do with my Ventrac ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ !!!!!!!! :biggrin:

Hey BK kept forgetting to tell you this but when I go to Internet Browser in my Blackberry and do Google search for LMF the major hit for LMF lists you as one of the LMF categories darned if I know why it does that...hard to explain wish I could post a pic of the screen but I would need the device to take the pic

Carscw A word of advice, you're talking on deaf ears when you talk to those who claim to be the self proclaimed Kings and Princes of the forum. They basically did the same to me when I talked about doing 60 plus yards a week, they called me a liar, and called my mowers junk and so on, so just ignore them. I do however like your post because you hit it dead on especially the last sentence when you talked about a cyber bully.

The cyber bully is the equivalent of a popular troll -- a troll with power within the group. And therein lies the danger. Picture that popular girl in high school who takes pride in belittling others less popular. Then toss in a few of her friends, along for the ride, who derive their own sense of power by picking up her table scraps, and to me I think you described an accurate picture of what's happening when you said cyber Bully.

Two things just came to me twall. Troll um kinda the same.

And did you know that the weedeater mowers at Walmart and JD Mowers are both green. Thinking to Walmart one cuts better

What makes you think I am unhappy, I am in perfect health, have been retired for 9 years now, own a quarter million buck house free and clear, wife and I have excellent health care plan and generous pensions, we have family and friends who love and care about us. I am sitting here at my laptop gazing out at the firepit I just built, that I will use for the first time tonite and invite our neighbors over to enjoy.

Everyone here , this is a great site! We might tease each other a bit but were grown-ups we can take it, its a part of life. LawnMowerForums teaches me things , makes me think, and makes me laugh sometimes! You can't beat that.:biggrin:

Only problem I see is that even if it affects us all.... we aren't supposed to discuss politics even on the Front Porch. I don't see the harm as long as people don't start calling names etc. ???? :confused3:

Politics is a touchy subject but a seperate Forum section could be created for that if the Admin sees an interest from members. I myself stay away from that issue because we see enough of that in our daily lives, and this is the place to not have to deal with it..

I belong to the Politics forum over on TBN, surprisingly few of the members there wanted to have access to that forum, but the majority are very well mannered and polite.

Surprise here....EVEN ME.

Thanks to the media I have a politics brain overload! Every time I watch the news and they get on the subject I get a headache and have to go outside and mow! I dont know what I'll do this winter.

You have to able to access the Front Porch forum, because the politics forum is a sub forum of the FP, by having the required number of posts, and then send a PM to Muhammed requesting access to the politics forum. I think the process there is more fully covered in the "News/Feedback" area....not sure though.

Over on TBN in the politics forum I posted the same news, somebody said "don't throw stuff at anybody except WASPS,don't throw stuff at others, no blacks, no women, no minority religions...too risky...."
