2017 Ferris srs z2 61" 28hp vanguard blades won't disengage. I've tried a new pto switch and that didn't fix the issue. I'm just looking for any input on what i could try to fix the problem. Thank you!

Can you unplug the PTO wires, and the blades still stay engaged? If so, it likely has a seized-up/ failed PTO bearing.

Hello G.,

It is not very common, but I have seen this happen especially where high humidity is a factor.

Also, on rare occasion I have also remove an electric PTO clutch and it basically fell apart in my hands.

Hello L.,

If you have a multimeter, Ohm the 2-pins going to the clutch with it disconnected from the chassis harness.

If you don't get a resistance reading, the magnet windings are likely burnt.

Is the air gap adjustable on that clutch design?

I dont believe the gaps adjustable I tried the wires going to the clutch and theres nothing there so I guess im going to trace wires or change the control module

If you unplug it and check resistance and get no reading the windings are open in the PTO clutch. You will need a new clutch assembly.

Hello L.,

That is uncommon, but not unheard of. Check for power with a test light, but also verify the grounds are good.

Do you have to be in the seat for the safety switch to operate? Is the brake set?
