Forgot to mention this earlier, but with the s200xt you get 10 gallon fuel capacity, zt5400 hydros, larger wider tires, and flat free front tires.
Since I am down to snappers, I will re-post this to their dedicated forum.
Went and met the Snapper Dealer and test drove the 2 units. And I have for sure decided its between the 2 Snappers.
s125 Kaw - $5100
s200 BS Turf - $6440
Tests drive I noticed how much more comfortable the premium seat is on the s200, and you can add the suspension plate for $200 if you want. I felt like the sound of the Kawasaki on the s125 was more pleasant, and for some reason the s125 felt more responsive with its steering. Is this just me, or the torque of the Kawasaki or maybe the 3400 are 'quicker'..... I don't know. Probably just me liking the Kawasaki!
So I am in Limbo between the two models. Both are going to mow my yard in the same time frame, and both will hold up to my 5 acre lot without issues.
Price of better seat on s125 - $350 aftermarket i think. You can a a full under seat mount suspension to s200 seat for $200, but its seat seemed pretty comfortable already.
Whats the input, Should I get less mower and great engine at a great price?
or, get a powerhouse mower with a hopefully not underpowered Briggs Engine that could have issues?
Looking forward to your input!
Rick
Don't forget to get the suspension seat though. I can tell you from experience it makes a difference. Dad has it, and I don't.
Does your dad have the premium grey/red seat with the suspension insert, or the black suspension seat?
His is the s200xt so it is the premium grey seat with the suspension insert. Mine is the black seat. I will be getting the insert before next season. I found a post about the commercial turf engine on the gravely thread. I put it on the snapper thread. It sounds like b&s did make several improvements on their engine.
Thank you so much for your help! I am at ease on the engine at least from seeing the improvements documented there! Also your statement that the 27hp wouldn't be underpowered at all. And, knowing the suspension seat options for both units. So All I have to decide is if the extra features worth the extra dimes. But note, this B&G model is somewhat stripped of some of the 200 lines features. I believe the flat free front tires, and the dual gas tanks are not standard. Maybe some kind of cushioned bearing on the lever arms?, not sure what else.
I tried to stop by the dealer today but ran out of time this morning. I think I am going with s200xt. Because it comes with the premium seat that is easily upgraded for 200 dollars to full suspension. And also the bigger tires should help traction on the slopes. Plus everything else is one step more hd then the 125 for nit much more dime
But haven't pulled any trigger yet. I was going to drive that s 125 one more time to be sure
