The way I look at it is it's a fun hobby and it does not cost me any money.

Downside is... It's kinda really one of my only hobbys and I can't excatly find anyone with similar interest :) I tell my friends what I do I get that glazed over look and the question of how it could possibly be fun.

Can you believe somebody had this snowblower for free at the end of there driveway. Of course it wasn't running, but that wasn't stopping me. It needed the second stage Compleatly taken off and heated, straightend, and rewelded. The paint was touched up also, works like new...It was a quite a bit of work but I loved it.I get more enjoyment out of free projects like this than buying a new one.People don't fix anything anymore,it's a shame.

Yep if nothing ever broke we would be bored.

People here don't know how to maintain equipment and when they leave gas in it all fall winter and spring they expect it to start and run in the summer with the same gas. When it doesn't it ends up on Craigslist for cheap or free. My phone let's me know when someone posts a mower for free or under 50

I wrote a little script for iMacros (a Firefox extension) that searches CraigsList for a bunch of things that I'm looking for (including Lawn-Boys, of course  ).

It's funny that this thread is active right now because tonight I'm putting out (for the trash) two old mowers that I found for free -- I know I'm not all that interested in them, they're taking up space in my basement, and I don't want to spend the time taking them to a scrap yard. Needless to say, they are four-cycle  ... I wouldn't dream of throwing away a two-cycle mower.

were do you guys find parts for these things?
I have a push mower mower sitting here for 3 years already,.it has a B&S motor and it needs a carb kit, i got a few kits send to me from various suppliers and none is the right one.
I have a 15 year mcculloch weed eater that needs a cover with primer bulb and airfilter, thing runs like a dream other wise.
The OEM primer bulb is no longer to be had, the airfilter is $ 35,the plastic cover is $55..why even fart around with that crap!. for $150 one buys a brand new weed eater!
Come spring they are going to the dump cause the scrap yard don't even want the mostly plastic garbage

I just save everything. The time will come when you will need a part. I am sure there is some other air filter and bulb Assembly that will work on it. On the mower I would just change the carb or make my own gaskets.

Pretty hard to change a carb when i don't have any that will fit the stupid thing.
The part i need is the reed valve membrane nobody seems to have for this model...Can't make it myself
I don't use these pathetic push mowers with these throw away engines anyway,..it is my brothers mower.
I have lawn tractors ;),...the old JD's from the seventy's with the cast iron kohlers that are still servicable:thumbsup:

Many of those primer bulbs are generic -- is there any marking on the carb? Try to ID the carb then search for that name/model. That air filter seems way over-priced (should be no more than $10) but the plastic cover could be a hard item to find.

I would Google the mcculloch model number. I could tell you where I like to buy parts but I don't think they ship to Canada.
