Briggs & Stratton 030239 Generator with Nikki Carburetor

I have a Briggs & Stratton 3000/2000 watt generator that wouldn't start, so I pulled the carb apart and it was all gunked up. When I took off the float there's some very thin and small plastic tabs that hold on the needle valve and one of them snapped. I can't find this carburetor or a rebuild kit anywhere. Every site shows no parts available. I ordered a carb off ebay that looked similar and specifically said it was only for the 030239 generator and it was too small so I returned it. All the carbs on ebay that are for 030239 are the same type of carb as the wrong one I received. The carb on the generator is a Nikki with numbers C118521 and 5XK on the side. On the "nikkicarburetors" web site they only have one carb that looks similar but the choke lever is on the opposite side and the holes on each end of the carb are opposite. On B&S web site it looks like float 694914 or 699724 might work but the pictures aren't clear and I can't tell the difference and the price is outrageous. Anyone know of a replacement carb or rebuild kit for this thing? In the picture of the carbs below, the left carb is the one from ebay and the right is the one off the generator.

Please post the Briggs numbers off the engine. Model, type and code. With those it will be easier for us to help you.

I can't seem to find numbers on the engine itself, but on the label next to the B&S label there's a Mitsubishi label that says:
Displacement: 127cc
Family: 5MVXS. 1271GB
DOM: 051101

In the manual under engine specs it says:
Model: Mitsubishi GM132
Rated Horsepower: 3.25 at 3600rpm
Displacement: 126cc

Attached are a couple different pics of the carb off mine. Looking at the carbs on Amazon for the GM132 it's not the same carb. I can't believe I can't even find a picture online of the carb off my generator.

Just got a response to my email to Briggs & Stratton. I've already searched for the carb part number to no avail. The email says:

Hello,

Unfortunately, not seeing any carburetor overhaul kits available, and Briggs and Stratton is showing the carburetor as no longer available with not alternative. Float bowl gasket is showing to be no longer available as well.

The carburetor part number is 198002GS, I would suggest a web search and see if any other outlets have any remaining stock.

Not cheap by a long shot but nor was the Briggs (Generac) carburetor as this was my last price for the 198002GS before it went NLA.

Sheesh, I might as well just sell this thing for parts for that price. I think I'll order a couple floats and needle valves off ebay and see if they work first. It's a shame some simple parts aren't available. Thanks for the info though.

A carb is a carb is a carb is a carb is a carb
So no such thing as one that can not be replaced with another it is just a matter of how much fitting ( fiddling ) is involved
Most have a common stud spacing and where not then the hole for the studs can be turned into a slot
After that it is just a matter of bending some full hard wire to connect it to the governor and working out a choke which could be converted to a cable .
Now with mowers it helps if you go for one that has the same feed system ( gravity or pump ) and the same choke size , or slightly smaller if not an exact match .
Over carbing on a governed is a disaster to tune

Yeah, I've taken apart a lot of carbs but I've never swapped a different one onto a machine. I still have an old Craftsman with a B&S engine that had the governor spring broken off and the throttle linkage bent that I use every year and I still can't get the idle right. It works, it just isn't tuned right. I'd give it a shot on this generator because it's a nice generator for camping, but I'd at least like to have the choke and throttle on the correct side. It's not worth $229 for the correct carb, I've seen these generators on ebay for that price. This carb must not have been used on many engines because I can't even find a picture of it other than the one posted in this thread from Italy.
