I bought a used Scag STH-18KH last fall, never cut with it tho. There was a gerry rigged trans linkage, homemade, bent; not allowing full travel of the transmission pivot. Ordered several new parts (one took over 2 months) and then was too late to finish it.

Started getting it ready to start, Installed battery from last year (kept inside) and i was unfamiliar and stupid and somehow switched the terminals backwords. It made a strange fast ticking sound for a second or so, then when dead silent. Tried to charge again but turning key causes absolutely no reaction from machine. What did I do? Fry the battery or worse?

Sure hope it is battery because getting parts for this can be sooo slow. Anybody have any experiance with these old 3 wheelers??

It looks like a simple electrical system. I would check the two fuses first.

NICE> It was a fuse! How cool. Now after searching all over can find only 'technical manual', which does have engine oil and trans fluid recommendations. Any clues to where I find these specs or a different manual? Thanks a bunch to reynoldston.

get the machine numbers, go to Scag homepage, click on operators manuals at the bottom.

Yeah, I had that manual, but I did find straight 30 goes in both under the "Assembly" section.
Is this older machine worth a lot of effort? Does anyone have experience with these 3 wheelers? I do not.
60 cut and ride looks like it may be comfy, but how far do I go?
