Almost bought a honda

But if the engine runs the engine alone is worth ?? Sometimes the gamble deals are the best ones.

Now that is what salvage yards are for. They need to make money also. I don't own or run a salvage yard, but I do buy parts from them and very thankful for them. I find they charge around haft the cost of new and I have had very good luck buying from them.

Yes and if it was free and she dropped it off at my door it wouldn't be a gamble ;) I think the pull cord is all that's wrong with the starter and I could start it with a drill to check the engine and drive system but I'm not driving 50 miles for that. That would be a gamble. Pass :) I thought the ex cutting a hole in the deck was the interesting part.

I did buy the Honda

Saturday night... poker night
So I gambled. Brought it home and jacked around a while and then went out to the garage. Tied the 2 pieces of broken pull cord together and gave it a few yanks. Nothing. Pulled the plug and checked spark. Great spark. Best spark I ever saw. Honda must make great coils
Pulled the carb and cleaned it best I could with the little bit of cleaner I had. Still nothing. Pulled the carb again and double checked everything. Nothing. The gas looked clear and smelled fine but I drained it and put in some fresh. Fired right up. Runs like a top. All the levers work. Blade brake works. Hydrostatic drive is strong. Faster than any Honda I had before. Blades are dull and probably need to be replaced later. Oh and it's quiet.
Now what to do about that hole. JB Weld for the cracks he caused cutting it? Screen and fiberglass?
I'm hoping the Ryobi trimmer and edger attachment might sell for what I paid for the package and I get a free mower
