Not as much that as I noticed the mice liked that hole. Thanks

    Help with a CV15s part.

Sorry for late reply... I thought forum would send emails when I get a reply. I don't have the spec # right here with me. But the block and that # is a CV15. The cover with the hole in it is from a CV16. The CV15 had some parts missing and used some from the CV16 to complete it. Thx

    Help with a CV15s part.

Working on my sons Kohler engine. I got it all put back together but there is a hole in the cover and a part missing. I am guessing it might be the spark advance module and it could have had a coil replaced with the combo unit??? It looks like a great place for mice to get in. So just looking...

    Kohler engine interchange.

My son has a Dixon mower with a Kohler Command 16HP, engine that self destructed. CV16s SKH426U1G2RB What engines will interchange with that? I know it is a big question. I found a few scrapper mowers. One with Kohler Pro 16.5 HP. Briggs 21 OHV, Briggs 19.5 twin. No model #s. I can try to...

Need some help with 12hp bolt torque specs.

Briggs 282707. I can't find a torque spec for the crankshaft counter weight. It was pretty tight coming out. Any loctite on it? If you are looking up I can also double check the head and rod torque. Thanks

Thanks for your helpful ideas. Any life I get out of it is more than it had the way it was. Since the transmissions are not available, it was worth fixing it.

    Dixon transaxle help.

Another couple FYIs. You should fill the trans about 1-1/2 from the top of the fill hole. I am pretty sure the fitting on top of the transmission is a 6AN ORB. I ordered 2 new ones with a barbed fitting to replace the broken plastic ones. To purge the transaxles, raise the rear wheels off...

    Dixon transaxle help.

This is the showing the old and new filter. I started to clean one of the old filters. You can with a few cans of spray. The stuff is thick and slimy. If you can clean them it will only cost you oil, carb cleaner and your time. I tried with one of the old ones. Hope this helps someone.

    Dixon transaxle help.

This is what the transaxle looks like with the pan removed. The filter is completely covered in a slimy sludge. In the center it looks like a bolt, but it is a magnet. I would recommend leaving the filter in place and washing it off with carb cleaner. It will take a few cans. The sludge is...

    Dixon transaxle help.

For the ones looking for info in the future, I will post some info. To drain the fluid and access the filter on the 2400L (5751) you have to drop the pan. There is no drain plug. There are 10 bolts. Even though the transaxles are the same, they had different bolts. The left had 3/8" heads and...

    Dixon transaxle help.

I did get a reply back from Hydro-Gear. They emailed me the service manual. It looks like the manual is for a 310-2400L or a 310-2600L, but it matches my 5751 312-2400L. I will try to upload it to help out anyone else. Ugh, it is a 4.91MB PDF and won't upload. Unless there is another way to...

Which would you prefer for your own mower?

A few years ago... Well maybe a decade. They were banning kid's ride on toys. Because of the lead in the battery terminals. It was considered a lead hazard. Go figure. If the kids are going to chew on battery terminals...

Which would you prefer for your own mower?

The harbor freight special... I use that too. Works well. Only thing, they have dies for down to 16 or so gauge wire, but not really large dies. Wish they had dies for 0000 wire. I was always thinking of grinding the odd ball small ones to the size I want, but never got to it. The ones you show...

Which would you prefer for your own mower?

As far as the pictures, I will do the properly crimped with solder. I use regular rosin core solder. After the crimp I clamp the hole end of the connector in the vise and heat with a propane torch. The solder flows in nicely and make the connection liquid tight, so don't have a problem with...

    Dixon transaxle help.

Dixon seems defunct. Looks like Husqvarna bought them out, and they zapped the links. I can try HG. Last time I tried contacting a mfgr. It has been 3 months and still waiting for a reply. I will see if my son can locate the HG part numbers. He lives a couple towns away. Worth a try.

    Dixon transaxle help.

Why do all those places look like scam sites and want you to join?? The manuals.lib page are they any good?? They always seemed like a scam so I stayed away from them. So far the first half dozen I tried all say service manual, but are the owners manual. About all the in depth they go is to...

    Dixon transaxle help.

It is My Son's mower. Dixon 4516K. (ZTR) I think he said it was a late 90's. (if a better number is needed tell me where to find it, Thx) Trying to get some info for him. The (Hydro gear?) transaxle was moving a little slow, and would get worse when warm. He changed fluids in both and now the...

Electrical Issue? I’m out of ideas....

Telisis.... Thanks for the points info... pretty much all the mowers I worked on have either points or some kind of electronic ignition for the timing. Is this built into the coil?? It does not look like it has wires for electronic ignition. Yes a schematic would be great. I tried looking one...

Electrical Issue? I’m out of ideas....

From what I seen in the schematics. The ones with a diode are 2 cylinders with 2 coils. The single cylinders did not have a diode.

Electrical Issue? I’m out of ideas....

Ok, just went over this... With the ignition switch ON, the kill wire reads 9.89K. Is that with it disconnected from the coil?? If so, disconnect your safeties one at a time until it goes to an infinity reading. Something is pulling it to ground. You may even try to unplug the key switch too...

Electrical Issue? I’m out of ideas....

It does look like this is a points machine... The points are usually under the flywheel. But you don't have a problem with that. I will break this down into sections. Yes you are correct the tab on the coil is on the upper left. You should have a wire going to the points and a tab or wire...
  25. B

Electrical Issue? I’m out of ideas....

To answer your question. Yes the kill wire would read ground, but with a higher resistance as you mentioned in another post. You are reading the ground through the coil. This is a simple coil schematic of the coil system, that may help explain it better. Not sure if you have points or an...

Engine cuts out between 1/2 and 1/4 tank

Just an idea. My Father in law had a very similar problem. Seems like Sears changed the brass mesh fuel filter with a paper one. It just would not move enough fuel through the paper one. (with a half tank or less.) I would change the fuel filter with the brass mesh one. Maybe pull the carb and...

Kohler cv16s Runs for 10 mins then dies

Yes a degraded line could cause crud to plug up. FYI FIL had the same problem. Sears came out and changed the fuel filter. They did not have a brass screen style and changed it to a paper filter. With the gravity flow of the tank, when the fuel level in the tank dropped the paper filter would...

New to This Forum, I am starting to post Videos on YouTube.

I didn't get to look over your videos. Just in general. 5 minute videos are good. 10 minute are ok, if there is good info to keep a person following. I do see some that run 40 minutes or more, with a lot of narration. Everything from talking about their dog, to rambling while driving. If I want...

Great info Bert... Make it short. Not a lot of long winded speeches. A good CLEAR closeup detail on the complicated stuff. Linkages, inside of carb, the screw nobody can find, etc. Hold the camera STILL. BTW you can pick up a lot of stuff free. Most of it is carburetor problems. Once you...

john deere jx75 drains fuel between moving

Great idea!! Gas can leak down in the oil and thin the oil. A couple things. It looks like a lot of grass and dust on the engine. Make sure the engine is blown off, so it does not effect the cooling of the engine. Check to see if the air filter is good/clean. I have had quite a few engines...

Stop My Neighbor Dogs Pooping In My Yard

It sounds like you are in the city. Or a populated area. The ideas above are good and bad. Gun fire and confrontations will get you in trouble. Do the people make a loop with their dog and circle back?? Usually the same person with dog. This will work by getting the owners attention. But you...

    Simplicity Regent deck question.

The rear of the deck does goes up and down when changing the cutting height. The adjustment controls the rear height. There is a rod that goes from the rear to the front to adjust the tilt. (Front to rear blade/deck tilt.) A picture would help... Ok, I attached the wrong picture... The one...

    Simplicity Regent deck question.

This might not be the whole problem. But it is sure not helping it. I think the pulley may have been rubbing, in tight turns for years. One bolt loose, one missing. BTW they put 4 or 5 mower decks on this model. Maybe this small one did not have front wheels.

    Simplicity Regent deck question.

It looks like only the wheels in the back. A line of them. No marks on the front where they were ever mounted. There are a couple bolts. But they are there to hold metal in place on the inside by the blades.... You can't see the rear wheels in this picture.... It sure did take a bite out of...

    Simplicity Regent deck question.

I got a picture this morning... maybe it will help. The mower is on jack stands so the deck is hanging lower. That is why the the marks on the deck do not line up with the pulley. The pulley is quite a ways from the mower deck. 3/4" or more. BTW the jack stand is on the front cross bar not the...

    Simplicity Regent deck question.

I am not sure if I have the model correct, going from memory. A Regent 18h with a 38" mower deck. It shows a 2007 model. My Mother bought it new at the time. I have noticed over the years when I was cutting when you make a hard (left?) turn the mower deck would hit the pulley on the crankshaft...
