Hustler 54" XHT High Lift Blades

I recently traded in my 54" Raptor SD for a 60" X-One. I have a set of 3 brand new XHT high lift blades that fit the 54" RSD, Fastrak and other 54" Hustler mowers. I love these blades - I bought the same blades for the new mower. The high lift blows the cut grass out of the deck 10-15 ft. It...

    A comparison of blades (Raptor/Fastrak)

Here is a comparison of the stock blades from my RSD, the XHT high lift blades and Oregon G5 blades. The XHT blades are marbain steel which is supposed to be extra tough. I know Scag puts them on all their mowers.

Raptor SD 54" Deck Discharge kit.

Here is what you get with the deck modification kit. Nice heavy duty plate and a bag of bolts. They want you to drill several 0.41" holes. Had to get out my calculator - works out to be a 13/32 drill bit (0.40625)

Raptor SD 54" Deck Discharge kit.

Here are the instructions from the deck modification kit. You have to cut out the triangle on the rear of the discharge area, cut out the bar across the bottom of the discharge chute and cut the welds holding the mount for the plastic discharge chute Then drill some holes for the bolts. Have not...

Raptor SD or Upgrade To Fastrak - Worth It?

I have a 2 year old Raptor SD 54 with Kawasaki engine, flex forks, engine guard and heat shield. Love the mower, very happy with the cut quality. I am getting the mower deck replaced under warranty due to faulty paint that is peeling off. While I am having it replaced, I am going to talk to the...

Raptor SD 54" Deck Discharge kit.

I decided not to install the deck modification kit. Hustler just approved me for a new deck due to paint failure. New deck should be here in a week or so. The dealer will remove my spindles and all other parts from my deck and install them on the new deck. Then I will install the kit on the new...

XHT vs Copperhead High Lift Blades for RSD 54

I have been using XHT high lift blades on my RSD 54 and have been very pleased with them. Decided I wanted to get a second set so I could swap them out and sharpen the used set when I have time, rather than having to to it immediately. So I ordered a set of XHT blades on Amazon for $34, and it...

    Bldes Won't Engage

Just finished repairing my Craftsman tractor's (917.289281) transmission. Tractor now goes forward and reverse without throwing the drive belt (transaxle mounting screws sheared off). I re-installed the deck and went to test it out, and the blades won't engage. The deck worked fine when I took...

Tire Size Question on Raptor SD

I picked up a screw a couple weeks ago in my right rear tire, and need to buy a new one. I took the tire to my local tire shop to see if it could be plugged, and they recommended a tube instead for $10 installed. Got it home, mowed for 1 hour and the tube blew and instantly went flat. Took it...

Craftsman Tractor Throws Drive Belt In Reverse

My 2008 YTS4000 24hp 46" Craftsman #917-289281 lawn tractor is consistently throwing the drive belt off the transaxle when you try to go in reverse. I replaced the belt thinking it might be the problem, but it throws the new belt as well. The transaxle seems to work fine going forward. But the...

    Hustler Raptor SD Discharge Trouble

Thanks Jersey. BTW, I like your Youtube videos. The striping one with the drone is real nice. Really nice yard! If I cut the bar across the deck opening, do I cut it where the yellow marks are on the pic below? I already removed the triangle in red. I'm going to mow a few times and see how the...

    Raptor SD Oil Change

I was doing my initial oil change on my Raptor SD, and according to the Kawasaki engine manual, you don't change the oil filter, just the oil. Does that make sense? The manual shows the oil bring changed at 8 hours and then again every 100 hours, and the oil filter being changed every 200 hours...

raptor vs raptor sd front wheel fork

Here are 2 pics for the stock Raptor SD forks. I did the same as Brad and replaced mine with Flex Forks. The post is 1 inch diameter with a threaded hole at the top for the mounting bolt. The posted is 2 7/8 inches tall. The wheel bracket is 7 1/2 inches wide, so your narrower wheels won't fit...

New Raptor SD Engine Quits at 3.8 Hours

So I am mowing with my new Raptor SD, and half way through the lawn today, the engine suddenly quits. I try to start it but it just cranks and cranks and won't start again. I'm frustrated that I will have to tow it back to the dealer which is 30 minutes way, and frustrated that my brand new...

Raptor SD Won't Go Full Speed

I mowed with my new Raptor SD for the first time today. Love the quality of the cut with the Oregon G5 blades. But the RSD did not seem much faster than my Craftsman tractor. My Craftsman claims forward speed of 5 mph, and the Hustler claims the RSD can do 7.5. So I was expecting to be zipping...

    New Hustler Raptor SD Owner

After doing months of research, and looking at Husqvarna, Scag, Hustler, Ferris, Cub Cadet, Simplicity and Bad Boy, I bought a Raptor SD 54" from the only dealer in CT I could find that had them with the Kawasaki engine (They have 2-3 left in anyone is interested). Took it home yesterday...

Buying my first zero turn, looking for advice

Been doing tons of research on zero turn mowers on this site and others, and have visited all of the local dealers. I currently mow 4 acres with a 46" 2010 Craftsman tractor, two of the acres are typical lawn, and two are open field. It takes me 4 hours. A few weeks ago I borrowed my...
