    JUNGLE JACK

No beast, about 650 lbs. And I agree, it would never occur to me to get under anything without jack stands. I was wondering more if an older man(me) would be able to operate the jack. I’m not nearly as strong as I once was, but am still very active in yard and garden. Thanks, Skip

    JUNGLE JACK

I love the simplicity of the Jungle Jack. I’m looking at it, as my bottle jack on my 8 year old, cheapie, Harbor Freight died. My question is, for those of you who’ve used it, will a 74 year old (and not terribly robust) man be able to use it to lift my ZT from either end, or should I just...

    Deck assist question, please

Glad to hear that. And you’re right, after actually using my mower for the first time after installing the kit, I knew my 40% figure had been conservative. And like you, if the XDX needed the deck assist so badly, and the mounting brackets are already on the mower, why in the dickens didn’t...

    Deck assist question, please

Yes jeepi, I ordered from hustler parts and the order was fulfilled by Pronto. You are completely justified in being suspicious of EVERYTHING on line. And BTW, you won’t believe what a difference that kit is going to make. Money WELL spent! Only other thing is a suspension seat kit. Coming soon...

    Deck assist question, please

My apologies Mr. Mower. I’m usually extremely good at taking advice. The best I recall, at that time last year my dealer told me told me that they’d have that kit in a couple of weeks. As I was wanting to start a relationship with my new dealer, I ordered it and paid them, over the phone. When...

    Deck assist question, please

Hey, they don’t call me Job for nothing ! Ok, I canceled my order with my dealer, got my refund, and found the kit on line. Last summer, when I ordered, it didn’t seem to be available. I’ve now ordered and it’s showing shipped today. Found it at hustlerlawnmowerparts.com Next project will be...

    Deck assist question, please

You’re not going to believe this, but it has been on backorder with my dealer all this time. I only saw your question tonight because I’m canceling my order tomorrow, and I was checking on line tonight and it seems to be readily available at several different places. I had paid my dealer in...

    Deck assist question, please

Turns out, the deck lift assist kit is readily available, and while my dealer didn’t have it in stock, they ordered it for me and I should have it in a few days. Notice: I’ll be glad when it’s installed! Skip

    Shop/ Repair Manuals

Thanks guys. I made hard copies of both the Service Manual and the Parts Manual. Both are really comprehensive. Oh,and yes, I too follow the service intervals in the Operator’s Manual. At least I did with my Raptor SD. I only have 3 hours on the XDX, but plan to have it for a long time. Skip

    Deck assist question, please

Sorry about the delay in thanking you. When I first posted that question I didn’t realize that my mower already has the brackets to accommodate this kit. Should be a 10 minute addition, IF I can find the kit. I’m dead sure my leg will thank me. Skip

    Deck assist question, please

I just traded my Raptor SD for a new XDX. The deck is WAY harder to raise with the foot pedal on the XDX. I saw the factory Deck Lift Assist kit and wondered if there was a downside to installing it. Anyone here installed/ used it? If there is no downside to having it, I think my 73 year old...

    Shop/ Repair Manuals

Having a little difficulty locating this. I picked up a new Raptor XDX today, and am looking for a shop manual. Question, is there a manual available in print, or will I have to download and print from PDF file online? Thanks, Skip

    Help with mystery stud, please

Whoops, looks like I found it. Appears to be one of the two, bolting the exhaust to the engine.

    Help with mystery stud, please

I’ve got a Hustler Raptor SD, with the Kohler PRO, 25 HP, KT740. I just found a stud, about 5/16 X 1 5/8”, with a nut still attached, laying on the frame plate that the engine mounts on. The stud itself apparently vibrated out of its resting place. It was almost directly under the spark plug...

    Raptor discharge

As many here know, the discharge opening on the Raptor SD 54, is the pits. (At least, on my 4 yr old version) I saw a very short YouTube video on a bolt on discharge opening that is attached after part of the original opening is enlarged, and the strip at the bottom of the original opening is...

    Kohler valve cover

Didn’t want to pull a valve cover if I didn’t have what I needed to replace it. Can someone tell me if my valve covers use a gasket, or does the factory just use RTV Silicone, or equivalent? The engine is Kohler 7000 series, specifically the KT 740, 25 hp, 725cc. Thanks, Skip

    Koehler socket size

Didn’t realize until rummaging through my tool box, that my serrated head socket selection is severely sparse. Could someone tell me what size I need for the valve cover screws on my Koehler 25 horse, 7000 series, KT 740 ? Thanks, Skip

    Is this correct?

Went to my Hustler dealer yesterday to buy blades, filters, etc. When I asked for transmission filters, as I was going to change the fluid and filters at about 65 hours, I was told by the dealer that unless I was having trouble, that Hustler recommended that I not change the transmission fluid...

    Question about Raptor SD

I bought a Raptor SD 54 about four months ago. Have used it very little as we are in long term drought. It is a great machine that starts great, runs great, and cuts a beautiful lawn. No negatives at all for what I need. Do have one issue though. Can someone tell me why, at full speed, it...

    From Georgia

Bought my first ZTR mower this week. A Hustler Raptor SD 54". Installed my engine guard today. This thing is really sweet. Being mowing for most of my 67 years (around 55 or so), but have never owned anything close to this. Spent most of my life on a Snapper Comet and 25 horse Huskee. Can't...
