Anybody know anything about making/buying a frame to mount a winch onto an X300 lawn tractor?

Anyone know a supplier for a winch frame to bolt on my X300 lawn tractor to raise/lower my 44" JD snowblower? Even plans would work. I've never used a winch for this application, and any information would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thank you. I'll try that. The rack was put on new last year, but the tech who put it on didn't center the steering wheel. As soon as I get the engine back together and the wiring fixed, I'm going to get the steering all fixed up.

Wow! I wonder how long this has been leaking? It's a real wonder that it didn't blow up from the heat. I don't understand how a person could leave it like this, this long.

Rubbing alcohol really works to get the petrol residue out of the plastic. I've steam cleaned it inside and out, and it's still giving off vapor big time. Going to let it sit a few days, and air it out. Possibly stream clean it again. I won't use the alcohol until right before I'm ready to...

I was just reading about West Systems G/Flex epoxy. Highly impervious to gasoline, and one of the best for adhering to HDPE - if the prep is done right. I bought some for the cracked JD 'Zenoy' hoods. Going to give this a go before forking out for a new gas tank. I'll let you know if it bonds.

And that could be the culprit. You should see the mess the mice made of the wiring. Too bad it was left outside for a couple of years before they decided to sell it.

Mine looks like a rat was gnawing on the corner. there isn't anything close by to rub/cut into it. weird.

Yeah, JB weld is out for the gas tank. I've been looking online for a decent used one. I'm in Canada, so probably going to have to put the word out and wait.

Just reread this. Sorry. I misread that JD has a green epoxy. It's a great idea though.

I'll have to check that out. I know Permatex makes good products. Probably cheaper than West Systems too. Do you buy the JD green epoxy online?

Thank you for replying. I was going to try to melt/bond fine stainless mesh, really roughing up the surrounding area, and applying JB plastic 2 part epoxy. But if it's a waste of time, a new tank will have to happen. I know that West Systems Flex epoxy works on the hoods that crack all the time...

Thank you. I'll pull the flywheel and have a look. It would make sense with the oil sitting up behind the manifold on the top of the block.

Here you can see fresh oil under the flywheel/ring gear. I don't know if it's because the prior owner spilled some topping up, or the crankcase breather is leaking. I'm going to pull the flywheel to have a better look.

Yes, number 6 are the bolts I was talking about at the rear of the engine. You could bend the tab back and then get a wrench in there, but then your tin is ruined. If this helps to find out what's leaking, I have no problem with pullinh

I looked at the governor seal, and all is well there. Whereabouts on the FH491v is the crankcase breather? Somebody mentioned that to me yesterday.

It's clean, looks like motor oil, not heavier like hydraulic/transaxle oil. Working on getting pics up. My computers being a turd and not letting me even get the pics off my camera. Taking my desktop to the computer shop today, so I will post the pics as soon as Get it back.

Sorry for the late reply. I just actually saw your post. Yes, where the oil's coming from is a mystery. It was all over my trailer, garage floor, mower deck, etc. I checked the transaxle, just a bit of old dried bit on top, where someone spilled a little when topping up. Very little anywhere...

That`s crazy that I have to pull the engine, just to remove the tin to clean it. I`m willing, begrudgingly, to bend the tabs at the back to get a wrench in under the ring gear/ flywheel, but that's a heck of a lot more work if there is hidden bolts to get to, to pull the engine. I think I'll...

Ah, gotcha. The tin shroud connects at the back of the engine. There are 2 bolts holding it to the block, almost under the ring gear/flywheel. Just under enough you can't get a socket on it. I would have to cut the shroud and bend it down to get a wrench on it. That's why I wondered if I had to...

Yes, 4-wheel steering, which is new for me. I didn't see a reservoir anywhere, so figured it must not use oil/fluid. I think I'll check the vent and cap and input seal on the transaxle next. Hopefully not a cracked case. Thank you for your help. I appreciate it.
