    Missing Fuel Jet Spring?

That is not adjustable, it is screwed in until seated and snugged up. If you have a problem after that, the carburetor body has a blocked cross air bleed passage.

Hi Ozcub, Yes, you said "ponder", yes, I pondered before I replied. Not an attack on you, just stating what I know from many years working in the automotive and small engine industry. People often tend to believe all kind of wild historical theories and stories that seem to be too good to be...

    recharge battery

Hi Ozcub, That is an "old wives' tale" that has been around since the early wooden encased battery days. That story has been disproven countless times. The more important safety factor would be if a battery is "gassing" it is expelling a very explosive hydrogen gas. This happens quickly when...

    yth22v46 bent pulleys/destroyed belt

Hello R., From this picture, I think the belt retainer tab is clocked in the wrong position for the larger idler pulley. Loosen the pulley partially and see if the retainer tab will align at about the 4 o'clock position. That and the tab should tab be closer to the pulley. They are spring...

    yth22v46 bent pulleys/destroyed belt

Am I correct to assume this is a manual handle operated deck? Can you give a full top view of the deck and pullies when you get an opportunity. The reason the idlers are wide and at a bit of an angle is normal. It compensates for the deck to be set a different cutting heights. Your belt...

    yth22v46 bent pulleys/destroyed belt

Wild guess: The idler with the most paint still on it was replaced, and the belt retainer guide tab was not set back on the locating hole to make sure it would not drag on the belt.

    5-6 hp Honda Gcv160 Horizontal

Hello Tiger SE, Humans are being assimilated, "resistance is futile" according to the Star Trek Bork collective episodes I've watched. LOL Most likely problem is Lean misfire due to old residual that stayed in the carburetor bowl. Carburetor needs to be properly cleaned or replaced. If they...

    recharge battery

Hello R., Welcome to the forum. If I am not mistaken, this is a low output stator on a Briggs and Stratton that does not have a separate voltage regulator. It has an inline diode on the red wire hiding under the shrink tape (near the white connector). That diode is bad and allowing power to...

    2026 Cub Cadet Ultima Z2 42

Sounds like a good fit to me. The only additional things I will mention is to use non-Ethanol fuel if it available or use a good mid-grade gasoline with a fuel stabilizer like Ethanol shield. Do not use the cheapest budget fuel you can find, it will cause nothing but problems in the long term...

    Engine Blast

These discussions about aesthetics and "curb appeal" always make me wonder about people's priorities. A pretty engine does not make it reliable. The factory castings normally clean up well with soap and water without any other help. All media blasting does is create pours for the aluminum to...

Cub Cadet model LTX1050 and Kawasaki 22.0 HP/726cc engine,

Hello C., Do you have a basic multi meter that can read AC and DC voltages? If not, you need to get one. Throwing parts at a problem without testing can waste a lot of money. There are lots of You Tube small engine folks that demonstrate how to test the charging system on these engines. If...

Briggs & Stratton 8250 storm responder carb bowl held on with Phillips head screws???

Hello Scubcadet10, This is where many people blame the Nikki carburetor because they could not just simply open it up and clean it with carb spray, then put it back together without the new seal kit. (I used to do the same thing) The seals are one time use and distort easily. Spray cleaners...

Briggs & Stratton 8250 storm responder carb bowl held on with Phillips head screws???

Hello P., The only adjustment on the carburetor is the idle stop screw with the Phillis head. The generator governor and tension adjust usually does the rest of the work. These usually have a load adjust tension mechanism for making sure the output of the generator is correct. Ideally, the...

John Deere 997 Seat Safety Not Working

Hello J., Remove the screws from the right side (has seated on the machine), lift up the control panel and look for a red or black square "box" plug-in interlock diode. I recently had a JD 757 zero turn that shorted out the seat harness and popped the diode. Now it does not have the diode to...

Briggs & Stratton 8250 storm responder carb bowl held on with Phillips head screws???

Hello P., This problem sounds like a bad float needle allowing too much fuel to flow past it and the seat. The needle acts like a fuel "gate keeper". It only allows fuel in as the engine uses it when working correctly. Carburetors can be a tricky, intricate device unless you have worked on...

Spring washer on a Toro Timemaster

    Westinghouse and Duramax generators

Hello P., This is only a 10,500-Watt steady power unit. That is too small to run a whole house in my opinion. People often pick too small of a generator to save money. I am not trying to talk you into spending more, but a bigger generator is advised. To run a whole house, I think you need to...

    Westinghouse and Duramax generators

Hello P., What are you planning to do with the generator? If it is for emergency standby? Anything below 12KW running watts is a waste of money in my opinion if you need to run heat or AC. Do you plan to use it for jobsite work? Bigger generators are heavy, but they have to be to produce...

Briggs & Stratton 8250 storm responder carb bowl held on with Phillips head screws???

Those long screws (studs) that hold the carburetor on have a star on the tip that require an E-torx bit to take out. The studs each have a shoulder that hold the carburetor on. A good pair of baby vise-grip pliers usually work, but damage to the stud will occur, so a proper bit is preferred...

    First Oil Change

Hi CG., I think an oil change at 300 hours in a rider is for lazy people that have more money than they have sense. I see "extended life" oils as a marketing gimmick to sell the oil at a higher price. Oil does not wear out; it gets dirty from carbon blowby deposits that all fuel engines have...
