    Snowiest Cities

For all of you who are busy shoveling snow, I'm curious is you live in the snowiest cities or not. This list just came out. Syracuse, NY was #1. The full list is here. Isn't it intriguing that Alaska didn't even make the top 5?

    What are people thinking?

Police are looking for a man who swiped a toddler out of his grandmother's arms and they think he drove himself and the kid right into a canal. I just don't get it. What's wrong with our world? Why are so many people shooting up schools, supermarkets, and post offices?

Do you remember your first time?

Just curious, do you remember the first time you ever mowed a lawn? Were you a child or an adult? Were your parents watching or were you completely on your own?

    Did Anyone Watch Miss America?

I've grown up watching it, so had to tune in again. I was just happy that none of them gave ditzy answers to the question at the end. Most of the final 10 were good at talent too.

    Salt Spreaders

Have you ever used a salt spreader before? Sometimes I wish businesses would invest in these little gizmos. I think they provide a good service. If you've used one, has it been a walker type or one attached to a vehicle?

    Build it yourself tool holder

Are there any instructions online somewhere for a basic tool holder. We have so many tools without a place to be kept. We need something to keep them in or perhaps hang them on (that might be better, space wise).

    Exercise or Yardwork?

What do you think? Do you need to exercise after spending an afternoon in your ward, mowing, pruning, scaring the cats with the leaf blower (see alternate leaf blower uses for that one), or is that all you need to do to stay in shape?

    Memorabilia

Any memorabilia collectors here? If so, what do you collect - baseball cards, coins, action figures, button pinbacks, election souvenirs? What's your passion?

    Just Checking it Out

I was just perusing the website and noticed this little subforum only had a couple of topics. I must admit that every time I see the name, I don't think of lawn mowers but of walkers people use to support them as they walk around. Do you think this brand is mis-named?

    Recycling Christmas

I just saw this website advertised on TV and thought that I would pass it on. We need to do as much as we can to help this planet of ours, so take a look here.

    Blow Away Constant or ...

I am not in the snow, but with all of your talk about having to shove and move the snow, I am curious. Do you make constant trips outside to keep your driveway and walkways clear or do you let it build up and just make one long clean up job out of it?

    S'mores, Anyone?

The 'hot chocolate' thread has me hankering for some S'mores. To me, it all goes together: a fire, roasting marshmallows, making S'mores, sipping on hot chocolate. Oh, the delight!

Hip Phrases You Are Tired Of

I saw this on the news this morning and could so easily relate to this. What words or phrases are you tired of and wish would go away, like "whatever" or "it's all good"?

    Restocking Fees

How do you all feel about restocking fees that many stores, including online retailers have, for electronic returns? Personally, I think they are bogus for the most part.

    Is this a Bad Price?

A co-worker is trying to sell their John Deere 317 Lawn Tractor which they say is in good condition though they haven't used it in about a year. The price is low, but I'm wondering if it's too low -- $190. Is he hiding something about this?

    Which Snapper would you recommend?

This isn't actually for me, but for a family member who needs a new mower. For whatever reason, and he hasn't told me, he wants a Snapper, but he's not sure which one. He does have a bad back so needs something easy to operate. He's got 1/2 acre of yard that slants downhill.

    Where's Caine?

I must admit that when I see this forum I am always end up flashing on Kung Fu and the 'grasshopper' nickname for the Caine character. That said, I haven't heard of grasshoppers, either than TV characters and those actual living creatures. So, what makes the Grasshopper wonderful or unique?

Th Real Ghost Hunters of TV Land

Okay, I do enjoy watching Ghost Hunters but what the heck is this joining of them and The Real Housewives of Atlanta? Who the heck thought of that? It wasn't Jason and Grant, that's for sure.

    Protecting the Bushes

We're having some unusually cold weather where we are, and I personally have never really done any protecting of bushes, well, really a big pot of flowers, or even pipes. What is the easiest why to try and keep the things alive (and protect the pipes, though that is a bit off topic).

    Cyber Monday Damage

Well, we're through with Black Friday and Cyber Monday, although some places like Amazon are now doing Cyber Week Deals. Ugh! So, what was the damage for you? Did you stick to the budget? Ignore the whole thing? Or were you like me and decided to enjoy the holidays by treating yourself?

    Homer the lucky dog

The big news tonight was the rescue of a golden retriever named Homer. What warmed my heart is that the Metro fire dept. was out there in large numbers. The dog ended up falling into a 30 foot hole that was dug for a sewer project. This dog is 13 years old. The vet says he's doing fine and...

Toro e-Cycler 20360 best buy price?

I was looking at the Toro e-Cycler 20360 which seems to be middle of the road in quality but has some good points to it. The best price I've seen is about $399. Has anyone noticed a better price out there?

    Presidential Pardon

I just saw the President doing the annual pardoning of the turkeys. It's such a fun tradition. I guess these gobblers aren't going to Disneyland as usual but are staying in Virginia. At any rate, to those celebrating, have a happy Thanksgiving, and to the birds giving their lives for the...

    Neighbor's Leaves

We've actually gotten rid of two trees and done a lot to rid our backyard of leaves. The problem now are leaves from the neighbor's oak tree that get in the yard. I mean, my yard right now is full of leaves, and all from their tree. Now, there's nothing they can really do about it, but it is...

    Action Figures

Anyone an action figure fan here? I love collectibles and own a few, but not many. My biggest collection is from Stargate SG-1. I don't own them all, but I have several, and they really are fun to look at.

    How big is too big?

Perhaps this depends on the overall size of your home, but if you are maintaining your own yard, how big is too big before you rebel and say 'not moving here' or 'time to get some help'?

    Squirrel and Critter Pop Ins

Have you seen those animal figure pop ins that you just stick in the ground to decorate your yard? We used to have several that were squirrels. That was before we had the real thing. They make all kinds, even skunks. Have you used those? Do you like them?

    Neighbor's bushes over fence

This is something that is continuing to be a bit of a problem for us. Keep in mind this isn't a neighborhood where folks talk. We're lucky if we know the other's name. Anyway, their bushes overhang our fence, and I don't want to do the cleanup of their bushes and leaves. Any recourse or...

    Patio vs. Deck

We're having lots of debates these days as we contemplate some changes. One of the issues is whether we want to go with a cement patio or a wooden deck. What do you have and how do you feel about it?

    How Big is Your Yard

When I was a kid, I thought our yard was huge. Now I realize it wasn't, especially after my folks put a pool in. The pool and surrounding patio took up 2/3rd of the yard. In actuality, there's not a whole lot of backyard grass left. What's your layout like?

    State Fair is Here

California's State Fair is opening. They've moved it this year (used to be late August). The food vendors have cut their fees by close to 25%. You should see these foods -- chocolate covered bacon? Oh my. Do you eat this strange stuff when you go to your fairs?

    Whole House Fan

In the last few days, I've begun to seriously consider a whole house fan. We have a really nice central air and heat, but it's too expensive to run it. There's a fan, but it's not whole house, and really doesn't do a whole lot to cool anything. I can't find any pricing examples to determine...

    Old Style Walk Behinds

Back in the day, a lawn mower was often a more simple walk behind type, motorless, where you just walked behind and the blades cut the grass. I saw someone using one of these the other day. If you have a small yard, it occurred to me that it might be simpler and the way to go if you don't want...

    Media Hype
