    ethanol damage solutions

Hello npbt100, Those integral filters made into the fuel tank are a very clever pain in the neck that gets a lot of good machines hauled to the scrap. (Failure by design) To remove the gel, I suggest you use an old used cooking pan full of near boiling water and weight the tank down in it for...

Replaced coil but still not getting spark

Hello JohnnyMtn, You could have gotten a bad coil. "New" does not mean good, especially online. Some coils have been returned many times and have traveled many thousands of miles only to be returned again and again. This is what our Amazon "free returns" society has gotten us.... lots of junk...

    drive pulley

This is a single belt drive pulley with a 1.25" tube extension on top and bottom (As measured from the pulley edge across to center tube) One tube section has a 1/4" keyed area formed into it. It is intended to be used with an electric PTO clutch below it. This one came off of a Craftsman...

FJ180 scored crankshaft and top bearing

Hello hlw49, The first challenge is finding an old school machinist that even knows what they are asking to be done. Second would be one who can actually do this. Third would be the cost of having such work done. The old machine shops of "we can repair anything" have faded off terribly in...

    Leaf blades

Hi Chuter, Back in the 80's Snapper 26"-30" RER mowers had bolt on "high lift" wings for the single blade intended for high lift bagger operations. The decks acted like a cutter and vacuum cleaner all in one when using the bagger option. Those would clean up and chop heavy fall leaves easily...

    Kohler CH22 starving for gas

I went back through most of the posts, and this is pointing toward the fuel tank having to be removed emptied, then flushed out and left sit to dry for a couple of days. While it is drying, go back through the lines, elbows and pick up tubes. You are chasing a globule of trash and bad fuel...

    kawasaki FR691v smoking

Hello ACF, Check on Ebay for a "small engine cylinder hone". (They are very affordable) They have 3- stones usually. You need a fine grit in the 320-400 range, just enough to see a pattern (Watch some videos online to get a feel for it). Avoid a ball hone design, they were good to use for the...

    Church Mower

Hello sano888, Most likely, the starter Bendix gear has split in half or sheared the teeth off of it. I recently repaired Kohler 22 HP on my zero turn did this and made a similar noise. John Deere L100 jammed flywheel

As I recall the JD L100 was only built for a few short years for the big box stores and discontinued due to low sales and chronic (plastic gear transmission) problems. I was surprised when I saw this post. From the sound of it, the engine has played out. Maybe a used engine is an option to...

Yard Machine 3.5HP Gas Edger, Depth Adjustment won't drop enough?

trouble with a john deere Z425 zero turn

Hi Robert B., There is a pulse type fuel pump that has the 2 fuel lines (supply and carburetor) and then a 3rd line for the crank case pulses to operate the pump. Check that line and make sure it has not split or coming apart so that it is barely hanging on. This is not an engine head gasket...

Hi StarTech, I do not have the variety wiring diagram available to study (online is a crap shoot). I recently dealt with a JD 757 that had [+ dc] run through the seat switch and that came to mind. I know JD has done some strange things on many of their mowers. Like you said the PTO could be...

D 170 is shorting the 20 amp fuse

Disconnect the PTO and run it around to see if it still happens. A seat switch is also suspect, so check all of that wiring. It only takes one tiny rub through or pinched area to pop the fuse.
