I think you need to throughly clean your battery cables and make sure they are tight. Also throw a volt meter on the battery and get a reading before you try to start it and then DURING trying to start it.

Sounds like a seat safety switch went bad.

Put a good battery jumper on it from a known good non-running vehicle and crank it. If it fires right up.......well, there's yer answer.

Is there a suitable tranny filter for my grandson's Z520A other than the $45/ea. from JD? Sure kicks a $100 bill in the behind just for a lousy filter change. Plus, I use 15W50 in my Gravely. What should I use in his 520? And 2 quarts each? Thanks all!

Just guessing, to keep any relays open or closed, nothing below 11v when cranking.

I would start with the simpliest of things, the battery. Throw a volt meter on it and crank it. See what your reading is under load. Clean your battery connections.

FYI, the mower is powered whether with the transaxles engaged or not engaged. The engage/disengage lever does nothin. ie. won't freewheel
