I see a couple of carburetors on ebay that are advertised as Stens and are at very low prices. My understanding is that Stens makes OEM carburetors for Briggs. Any reason I should not get one of these? Links below. Oregon Stens

The oil is definitely coming out from the shaft seal. I replaced that seal last year and it did OK until a plastic bag I didn't see got wrapped around the shaft, then started leaking again. I had totally forgotten oil dye existed; thanks for reminding me.

I got a one-inch piece of PVC pipe yesterday, almost a perfect size, ID and OD.

That was my concern from the beginning. I'll watch for that as best I can. I installed dozens of these back in the early 80s but have forgotten most of what I knew back then.

I picked up a one-inch PVC today at Home Depot, tried it on for size and it is near perfect. I'll know something when the seals get here.
