Next year in 2013 I swear im going to combat these no name lawn cutters!!! The next time Im driving down the road and see a crew cutting grass with no name on thier truck, im going to take a picture and write down thier plate number. I will then turn it over to the department of agriculture. Im tired of these guys. They dont pay taxes, insuarance, or fees. I just got done paying $2200.00 for a year of insuarance, fees, and permits. Im going to call the dept. of agriculture to find out if I can combat these no name guys. Hopefully they will work with me on this.
Hey, Turf...lots of luck getting help from the gov't. If you are a honest, hard-working taxpayer, it's too bad, so sad. Glad to offer a word of encouragement!

I do not have a name on my truck but I pay taxes.
I don't have a name or number on my truck because I do not want any one calling me to do there yard.

Same here I have never had a name on my truck other Chevy, and I pay taxes every year... I understand what he means though, and couldnt advise how to handle that type situation but it is aggravating because us honest lawncare people pay our fair share of taxes.

I guess I am going to have to put my name on my truck.

here in mid michigan you also need a DOT number on your truck as well as your name and phone number and of course that all comes with added expense, truck, trailer inspections every year, DOT physical every two years, fire ext, safety triangles, plus every thing in your trailer better be tied down to specs. The DOT officer likes to stop lawn care providers that dont have a name on their truck and hassel them. major expense and lost down time. many people have tried to fight it but lost. its a weight issue with anything weighing over 10,000 lbs truck and trailer combined

The only thing that DOT does here is concentrate on large trucks or semi truck and trailers for wheels condition and being overloaded. Thing is you hear all the time that small business drives this country but at the same time it seems like everybody wants there cut of the pie with all the added expenses the government imposes which keeps the small businesses from being successful and that may be why you see these lawn guys out doing what there doing under the books.

the local paper in town interviewed the DOT driver and he madee it clear that he sit in several spots looking for tires that are bulging out or trucks that have things in the back that are not tied down. also for safety chains that are not crossed as well as several other things. he likes to stop the no names and hold them up for a long time just trying to intimidate them, and he does a good job of it.

We dont have anything like that around here they mainly police the big trucks, dump trucks, etc. I think the only law around here is that if your trailer is over 12ft with more than one axle you are required to have brakes, and your load has to be secure.

I am thinking about getting a 16' cargo trailer and putting my name on it and my phone number as well. Does that mean that I am no longer a NO NAME business?
