I was the new guy, but since I have been hanging out here awhile, I'll claim to be the not so new guy. I was happy to be able to be able to find the info I needed here, as well as sell something that has a limited market.
While mowing yesterday I tried to think of how old my HRB is. I am guessing at least 11 to maybe 13 years old.
The story goes I went to purchase a new mower at Home Depot. The lawn and garden person steered me to my mower which was a recon. He said he believed someone purchased it, used it once or twice and returned it.It looked new. At that time returns went to a local shop that checked it out and tattooed it with with a "recon" Label. Never had a bit of trouble until the transmission stopped working.Oh, there was a starter cord replacement along the way too. A refill fixed the transmission. Not bad after all these years. It hasn't had an easy life even by Florida standards.Besides a long mowing season, it has mowed friends and relatives yard too.
A few weeks ago I experienced the no good deed goes unpunished adage. I had a tree trimmed and the cleanup crew missed a small piece of oak. It ended up going through the deck. I mowed the next few weeks with gaffers tape over it before I had the time to glass it. So without further adieu, here are a couple of photos.
