Mgt2000h

Hi guys. I’m not sure if I’m in the right place to ask this question but thought I’d give it a whirl. I have a snapper mgt200h withe the 20 hp kohler. Went to start it the other day and it turned over a few times then the key went dead. Battery is good and ignition tests out ok as does the starter. I have a question. Is the item in the picture a start- run capacitor? Or something else?

Check battery voltage while turning the key to the start position. If battery voltage drops below 10 VDC the battery is shot and needs replacement. Wouldn’t be the first time the battery reads good, but drops under load.

So, you say the key went dead. Is there no sound at all when you turn it to start? You say battery is good, how did you test? When is the last time the battery/solenoid/starter wires connections were cleaned? That usually causes slow cranking, but is worth doing any time you're wondering if there's enough juice getting to the starter.

Thank you for the diagram. I’ve been trying to find one.

hey mark.
I charged the battery over night and took it to the dealer I bought from and had it tested. I just went over the connections and cleaned them after this happened. I still have to get the meter out and test all of the safety switches when I get a moment. If I try to jump the starter with just the mower wiring it gives a small spark but no click on the solonoid. If I run a wire to the solonoid from the battery it cranks over like it should and fires right up till it runs out of gas due to not getting voltage to the crab shut off I guessing

When you get it to crank, where are you connecting at the solenoid? Is it a big wire or a little one? If it's the little one, the solenoid seems to be working, and you need to look at the wiring to and from the ignition switch. Check fuses, there is one in the ignition circuit. If connecting from the battery to big connector at solenoid, you are bypassing the solenoid.

12 volts to the small diameter wire post. Is the fuse you are referring to in the fuse block? 4 fuse if I remember correctly
