8HP Briggs Governor Shaft Leak

It is held in by fiction and is pressed in place. I never seen move on it own other than wear out.

491956, BTW it is NLA. If you damage it then it takes a machine shop to make one using the old one as a guide.

Do you know what that hole looks like inside of the crankcase? Is that brushing in a blind hole or is it through to the inside of the engine? Trying to figure out what the best nest move is here. It doesn’t seem to want to move from the outside. Maybe I need to pull the bottom cover off the engine and have a look from the inside? As far as worn out, how tight is the governor shaft supposed to fit the bushing? It does wiggle around a bit.

The bushing goes the end of the goes to the end of the governor shaft and supports the full length of the shaft before the bend or angle depend shaft style. Governor shaft is just a hair under 1/4" [.250"]. I had ream them to 1/4" so there is a very minimum side play. Now the SM has as .242 but some shafts are larger.

Just note you have the latest style that is not covered in the service manual as it has a beefier mounting area so a seal could be added.

From what StarTech posted, it looks like the bushing is supposed to come out about 1/16. How does that compare to what you see? Could you fit a gasket, if the seal is too thick? From your pic, there isn't much between the bushing and the hole for the clip.
