Jacobsen 1200 super chief

Hello M.,

Sounds great.

Make sure to clean the points with a small strip of whit notebook paper to remove any trace of oil or sediments. This is a vital step with new and old points that will prevent pitting.

I always liked the adjustable tappets in these engines. With most other manufacturers, the tips of the valves had to be carefully ground to obtain the correct valve lash once the seats and valves were refinished properly. That process took a lot of patience and experience with a super-fine grinding wheel on a Sioux valve grinding machine.

The original stock fuel pump may be a little difficult to locate as far as finding a good reliable one, but they are out there. Many folks that I know elect to change over to a low-pressure electric solenoid fuel pump. These engines only require a couple of PSI of fuel delivery pressure.

Yes used the paper to clean points
Also could not find OEM fuel pump and carburetor so stuck with Chinese for now i will keep looking
Also yes tappets are very nice and easy to adjust unlike the opposed twin valve grinding!
At this point just want to see if it fires up and adjust from there!
Thanks

The more I read about these Chinese fuel pumps the more im thinking electric!
What brand?
Im looking at the Faucet
They are a bit more but seem recommended they run at 1.5-4 psi
Just wondering where to wire it in?
Im guessing from ignition swicth to a common ground!
Just putting together ideas💡

Hello M.,

Locate a key on power wire for the positive side of the electric pump to splice into and also install an inline fuse. A 20A fuse should suffice. The fuse is to isolate and protect the rest of the harness in case the pump ever fails.

The ground can go to the chassis as long as the battery negative is also attached directly to the chassis.

Excellent

Got carb on and fuel pump carb was tricky as the choke lever is backwards but its what I have!! had to make a bracket to bring choke cable up and around over top but it functions perfectly!
Also went through all connections and cleaned them up!
Needed to make a ground to battery will install tomorrow and put test light on a few things ignition switch coil ect.
Mocked up a fuel cell finish it tomorrow should work pretty good find out tomorrow !
Just need to hook up battery put some oil in and some gas!
Didn't think i would be this far along but maybe she fires!@

Well I got my last part to complete engine i needed the bottom half of the air cleaner housing but when tightening the nut to hold the outer portion of housing I arched my darn wrench on the positive side of solenoid and now it won't start!
I tested solenoid and it is good!
I have power to coil when turning key and coil looks good from my test i don't know the exact #s it should be but we're the same as the couple videos I watched!
The condenser i think maybe the problem it is definitely not good from the test i did!
I don't know if im doing it right but with key on points show no spark when opening and closing!
Im terrible at electrical stuff im a trial and error electrician!
Just trying to chase it down!
So far i think condenser ????
