Mini engine parts broke this time

Thanks very much for telling me this I got that valve guide plate ordered also.
If the guide is raised up, it is due to repeat overheating, and the head will need to be replaced. <----------- I don't know what this means if it's raised up isn't it like secured with bolts or screws is there a different way you could say this cuz it doesn't make any sense to me.

It is not the push guide plate it is the actual valve guides that Auto Doc is posting about.
Okay the valve guides are the rectangular pieces of plastic I'm definitely going to replace those because it comes with a new guide plate I think it's called but it's a metal plate and then it comes with those plastic inserts I'm very familiar with those things I just never saw them broken but having said that what is he trying to tell me about those things make sure I install them I just don't get it.

The valve guides are bronze and pressed into the head at the factory and with excess overheating, they will creep upward out of the head over time.

Look between the coiled sections of the valve spring to see if the guide is raised upward towards the round valve retainer. If you can push on the top of the valve spring assembly and the travel is stopped in a short distance, that means the valve guide has moved upward. The valve springs have fairly strong tension so it will take some effort to push them down.

Teryll Fixes All has a good video about this problem and a solution, but I do not recommend it if you have limited repair experience.

Okay thanks for this explanation I'm reading it + you know for me since I'm not a mechanic I call them hockey pucks for little tiny hockey pucks I think that's what you're talking about and they're metal and I just bought two of them a couple weeks ago. I can only tell you when I took the valve cover off I think one ended up dropping into the valve cover but they're both okay from what I can tell and my apologies if I'm talking about the wrong thing.

The "hockey pucks" you are referring to are the valve wear tip caps, not the valve guide I am referring to. I am not sure we are talking about the same thing here.

I found this photo and it had labels already. So where this image has, "Sleeve that prevents valve from depressing" is this what I am looking for? I can post a picture of what my engine looks like. But I think you mean using this photo this guy is saying "sleeve" and I do see how this sleeve is raised where as the top valve the sleeve is NOT raised. Is this what I am looking for for my 19.5 HP B&S engine?

I see specifically for the valve on the bottom valve it looks like when the spring collapses it can only travel say 1/4" rather than say 1" is this the issue the engine could have? I made up the 1/4" and 1" but I am saying really that sleeve is "raised" and stuck there it seems. So this is the issue that I need to look for? On the top valve in this photo it seems like the spring can compress say the full 1".

I made up the 1/4" and 1" just to give an example.

Also where he says "exhaust valve" I think thats the intake valve, not that it matters but I have found alot of folks confused by this.

Knowing the intake valve versus the exhaust valve, does matter. When the valve guide doesn’t allow the valve to operate correctly and is at an abnormal height, that is called a pushed valve guide. Punctuation correctly used versus one giant run on sentence also matters. Don’t sweat the small stuff, it is all small stuff.
