Mini engine parts broke this time

If picture in post #21 is of your head then yes the exhaust valve guide has moved outward.

Btw viewing is a lot easier on a regular desktop than a smart phone.

Beside I got a vendor that no one there can get it thru their thick skulls that you can't text a landline phone. They think everyone has a smartphone. It going to cost them another $100 Stihl part order and possibility any future orders. It has already stop me from buying parts JD parts locally because of a smart A salesman.
Okay thanks for the reply StarTech that very first post I thought I struck gold because I actually found exactly what could be the problem that you folks are describing but that's someone else's photograph it's clearly labeled and I think my cylinder head it's okay but I'm going to make damn sure that it's okay and that would be the second photograph of a cylinder head which has no labels but someone was saying about heat and that hole rocker arm stud needs to flex and all this stuff I mean I didn't know any of that but the engine is 15 years old so hopefully after fully inspecting the cylinder head maybe even taking it off because I have several cylinder head gaskets brand new I could really get a better look at it and hopefully the parts I already bought just install those and then everything will work perfectly course I'm hoping that but we'll see.

The example I sent you from Parts Tree shows the entire (updated) head kit still available at the time when I posted it.

B&S had a design flaw with the original head on these engines, but they are too old to file any kind of warranty claim on.

The photo indicates that the valve guide has moved upward towards the top valve spring retainer. Trying to put it back together like this will just be a repeat failure. The parts are literally colliding with each other when assembled and running.

A machine shop would cost you more than buying a new head kit and all they might do is force the old guide back in place and call it "good enough". I have found that most machine shops do not want to be bothered with these small engines and they consider them "throw away" items.

This is my machine it looks like those sleeves on my machine are somehow different but based on this photograph can you tell if the cylinder head for my machine which is the photograph I think above this text needs to be replaced? And just to reduce confusion the photograph for my cylinder head does not have any text overlaid on top of it

This is a photograph below from July 20th at 10:02 a.m. This is a close-up of the cylinder head for my engine and the question is is this broken and I should get another one

The upper valve has viewed in the picture has what appears to me to be a valve guide (inside the coiled spring) that is coming out and raising up towards the valve top rotor/retainer. It also appears to have a color difference on the very top from hitting the bottom of the valve top rotor/retainer.

The valve guide should never stick up that high. When new, the guides are a tight "press fit" when installed. Over years of use heat expansion of the head, it has gradually allowed the guide to move upward. The guides should never do this once pressed into place at the factory.

Get a new head kit assembly

Auto Doc thank you very much so like like I think you're suggesting get another cylinder head and I appreciate fact you could actually see what looks right and what doesn't you know I have no clue that's why I send the photograph but I'll get in front of a PC and look at all the information that has been sent regarding a new cylinder head also the fact that the old one from production had a flaw in it all that stuff and hopefully gets the right replacement so thanks to you for confirming the issue and hopefully there's nothing else wrong in fact it's probably a good idea that I take off the cylinder head and see what goes on inside the engine.

84011649 HEAD CYLINDER Briggs and Stratton Genuine OEM Part - SUPERSEDED FROM 796026​


This is the part I found at the Briggs& Stratton website so this is like $100 which isn't bad I just want to make sure if anyone sees this us they're in agreement with what I found for a part number above and again this is directly from Briggs& Stratton I guess their website where you can order it.

This video link I sent is where where this fellow is fixing it. And now it makes sense when someone said he's pressing back the valve guide that raised up, and returning it to the way it normally looks, now I get it . So he's drilling through aluminum and then he's drilling a little dimple into the actual valve guide and then he's threading the hole in the aluminum and then he's using set screws maybe torx screws this is pretty intense but now I get all the parts so now everything you folks said absolutely makes sense now I don't plan on doing this but he's probably going to fix it back to the way it was coming out of the factory, and according to him.

But I thought this was a very good demonstration and explanation of all the stuff that's going on.

Also I don't think I'm telling you anything you don't know but I never knew you could even do something like this so this is great to learn about but a brand new cylinder head is the way for me to go.
